So I've heard and seen that you can use the sts-v clear fog lights.....

1) Is it a clean swap? Do I need other brackets?
2) Anyone have instructions or tips?
3) Last I would like to put some HIDs in them, any suggetions on what type...

Thanks!

yep 3000k fogs!! and the platinum DRL bulbs
Direct replacement as long as you use your mounting brackets from what I hear. I used ddm tuning for hids but there is a vendor sharphids.com on here that can hook you up as well. The fog light is and H10 so as long as you buy a compatible H10 HID bulb it doesn't matter what other options you choose as far as if it will work. Stock hid low beams are 4300k so find something close to that if you want stock look. Anything higher is more blue but wont project anymore light. If you do hid for DDM the hot and ground wires on the fog light braket need to be swapped. For some reason the polarity is backwards and need to be swapped to work. I have a thread on this just a couple of months ago. Just search for my username and look for something like foglight hid or something. I dont recall the title I used.
any one have any ideas on what they might run?

Do you have a link to the DRL bulbs you are going to use.. silverstars are nice too

I pulled the trigger on 55w 8k DDM fogs. They are going to be a a little blue like 6k.. 55w runs about $100 shipped from ddm..subtract -$15 for 35 watt
Anyone have a contact for the sts foglights?
Luke or schram auto.. also search old threads i have seen links

Got mine from Luke. About three years ago, they were $248 to my front door.

Luke is the man! :highfive:

P.S. I notice the FAQ doesn't seem to have anything on this. When I did mine, there was a thread where someone included just enough detail on the swap to make me comfortable doing it. It's really a snap ... really.
Randy is your eye sight going?

Also,
Luke's cost on the fogs has went up I believe. Last I checked it was over $300.

Dang! I knew it was there! Don't know why I didn't see it. :banghead: Thanks, Bigron!

BTW, here's that old thread ...

Also, I paid $261 shipped to my door, not $248 ... that was late June '06, nearly three years ago, so not surprising that they've gone up.

here is the link I use for the running lamp bulbs (194 smt towers) I didn't get the platinum bulbs because my fogs are factory just tinted...but they look awesome in the STS fogs...

I went with 55w 3000k HID for fogs..they should be here today

and the swapping the running lap bulbs is a must!!!

Ok, I have been reading all the posts that I can on this conversion and I have a few questions. First, I talked to Luke at Lindsey Cadillac about the STS lights today and unless I miss heard him I know that he said that I would need the STS lights not the STS-V lights for the conversion like I saw that someone in an old post had used. Secondly in an old post on this someone was having trouble getting the amber blub to fit using the factory CTS-V wiring harness in the STS light assembly. I know that there are now LED bulbs that will work in the amber socket. So since I am itching to get this taken care of since my driver's side fog light got taken out by what had to be a golf ball the other day can someone please make sure that I am pointed in the right direction. The conclusion that I am at right now is that I need STS fog lights for the conversion and that I will not have to change the factory wiring harness if I go with the LED bulbe for the turn signal, if I am incorrect on any of this please let me know because I would like to get everything ordered and put on by this weekend. Also, since I forgot to ask Luke the part number for the STS fog lights does anyone have the number by chance?

The STS fog does not work. You need the STS V fog. Do a search, there is plenty of info on this.

JD is right.

Also, I recall reading about the bulb thing, too, but when I went to do mine, there wasn't a problem at all. I remain confused on that one.

What you get from Luke will be more than what you'll actually install since he sends an assembly. You will transfer the light (hope I remember this right) into the old fog light's bracket/housing/whatever. It becomes pretty obvious when you're doing it ... honestly.
Yeah, I knew that I would have to swap the brackets, I was just not sure if I needed the STS or the STS-V assembly, and I really didn't want to cut into my wiring harness to change the lights over, so if there is not a problem with bulbs fitting I guess I will procced with the swap. Considering that I have minimal tools I was thinking about just paying a shop to do the swap for me. What kind of time and most of all patience do I need to make the swap myself? I read the how to in the FAQs and it sounds easy enough, but I would hate to believe that it is easier than it really may be. Thanks guys!
Get the STS-V fogs. The only tool you need is something to help you pop the tabs that hold the fender in. Oh yeah and a single 8mm you can feel the top edge of the bumper of the lens hole. The wiring will plug right in and so will the stock bulb but won't be legal without orange. I don't know about LEDs but I got these:

They look blue but light is orange.

...and then I saw these later that I like better.

I guess that's why I didn't end up getting them. I just thought they were better then the blueish ones not lit.

Good find.
