The radio, in FM mode, in my '00 STS has poor reception...I live in central NJ and typically get great reception of both NY & Philadelphia radio stations (my three other cars get excellent reception).

I have the Bose head unit, with 6 CD changer, and the antenna is built into the windshield. Any one else experience this problem, and is there a solution??

Typically the antenna's that are Built into the glass get poor reception and tend to be "Directional" when compaired to "External Mast Types" Omni Directional Reception, Do your other cars have the antenna built In The Glass?

Sadly not much you can do, save for getting an aftermarket fix.

In fact, the gentleman that had my STS before me felt the same way- he added a very ugly antenna to my car. I'm still looking for a shorter replacement, but I'm keeping it around- I have some "unintended" uses ready for it. :)

Oh, to answer the question before it's asked; yes, it helps big time. I can take it off and lose half the stations I normally get.

I just bought a Cherry condition (Pearl Red as well) '96 STS.

There were several sound system upgrades (speakers and amps) to the Bose (BLOWS) system by previous owner and it sounds pretty good ( CDs anyway). But the Radio reception is Extremely poor. The worst :rant2: reception of any of my other cars... even one having a windshield unit included in the match.

Any suggestions  of places to look or check or does this system just have a bad quality factor. The car has had a lot of good maintenance and recent replacements including antenna and wondering what may ave gone wrong there.
