A 2005 and up (CTS-V and CTS Sport) bar is taller and will physically bolt on and clear the motor, but you won't be able to close the hood without cutting a slot in it. PJ did this to his, and it seemed to work. I've still got mine in the garage, waiting for me to cut the cross bar, and weld a new one that's about 1" lower.

The 04 CTS-V cross bar won't even clear the V6 motors, since we have overhead cams that make it taller overall, than the V8.

In mid '05 GM started molding in a slot to the underside of the hood (and the hood liner) to clear this, even if it wasn't ordered. You could upgrade to a newer hood, but this would be a very expensive way to fit a strut tie-brace.

My very late 04 has the slot for the STB. I should be watching e-bay closer so I can buy one..... :thepan:

Where do they sell the STB for a late 04 V6? I knew that Dub could get them but havent looked into it for awhile
Any STB off an 06 or newer CTS will work. Either a V or sport package

Wish Vogue had a price on there. If you need to ask you probably cant afford it though! LOL!!

Can I find the part number in the FAQ for the 06 CTS one? DOes the bar go over the cover, or does it have to come off?

LOL!! Beats me! Im not really a master of the FAQ. The cover stays on though....

My CTS has an indent in the hood liner for the brace. It's the exact same hoodliner as the V's... I'm hoping that means it will work.

Yeah I have that same hood. Let me know what the part number is when it comes in if you could

2006+ CTS/CTS-V STB part number 15245609 and should cost less than $100 with shipping. It's a great mod for the cost, as long as you have the hood indent.

Combine the STB with a set of V-sways and it really tightens up the handling nicely!

I just got mine and put it on the CTS. It's beefier than the one on my V (LS6). Mine looks a little better than the one pictured above. I'll post pics later, charging camera now.

And yes, it worked on my '04.
