Good day. I was recently advised by my dealer that my 2020 XT5 required a new strut assembly. They're done in pairs which I get. They quoted me a price of $2200.00 CDN for both sides. I called around and got several quotes for after market strut assemblies for about $1100.00. Huge difference. Does it matter whether they're variable damping or not? And I'm assuming that they will simply reuse the coil spring. Thanks.

In order to get the proper suspension components for your vehicle you need to know what it was originally equipped with. See if the dealer parts department will give you a printout of your build sheet or post your VIN for a breakdown here:

Does your XT5 come with RTD suspension?
A regular complete strut with all oem parts including new coil spring cost me about 300cad per wheel. This, of course, does not include labour cost.
But the material cost of a RTD one will easily double.
