Low self-discharge of AGM is convenient, one can let the car sit for a couple weeks without concern. SLA is cheaper. Pick your poison.

You're not wrong there.
Can you disconnect the battery and charge it anywhere?
Nope, I was living on second floor in an apartment building. Currently living in a trailer in a park by my kids while I get my finances in order and get working on a down payment for a house once the market settles down some probably 2024.

Cars in the garge(s) have NOCO Genius 1s, outside I have a 15W (750ma effective) solar panel on top of the cover that keeps the battery charged. Anymore I only buy AGMs.
Solor panel doesn't work well when covered with snow either....

True, I have seen snow here twice since 1957 but it didn't stick.
Yea I keep questioning my staying here in Michigan for my kids sake to help them out. Neither one appreciates it and I am likely going to end up suing one to force her to give stuff back she stole from me and force her to do what she promised.

Florida, Texas etc sound so much better right now as I sit here healing from a torn shoulder that got finished off shoveling 2' of snow in the big snow storm we had in December... Had surgery on Jan 9th and wont be able to lift anything over 5 lbs until March. He fixed the damaged labrum and moved an attachment point of my bicep to prevent further damage. Shoveling 1 armed is challenging... Have paid daughters BF to do it as well.

Texas is a better choice particularly the area around Austin. Florida has too many snowbirds already.
Oh so you are saying I should move next to you. lol... I liked Houston actually. Although there seem to be a clan of those Mad max spinners down there even though the cops will take them off the road.

So, as this posting was about me, me, me and has gone off topic, here's my latest updates...
As a chronic procrastinator, I haven't had any issues after my guy at the garage reset all the codes.
The temps here have been on a roller coaster ride from 0°C to -30°C and back again.
-Issues with the passenger mirror have returned.
-On the really cold days, the battery is being charged at up to a rate of 14.9 volts
-The battery always starts the car with gusto though a little slower turn over below -20°C. Though that is probably common with most vehicles and it passed it's load test so it ain't being changed right now.
-The "Drivers Door Open" has not returned as before, though it has come on when the temps drop fast and things that are wet become iced. Where the latches and handles don't want to open for me and I fear sometimes that the plastic handles will break.
-It's still a pleasure and fun driving it in snowy conditions.
