Usually a failing oil pressure switch. It's on the oil filter adapter. Use only an A/C Delco switch.

Low oil pressure is not low oil in the engine. It could be worn bearings to an internal leak to a bad sensor.

You can either check/replace the sensor or put a mechanical gauge to test it.

I should have caught and mentioned that. Shame on me.

????????? The oil pressure sending unit on the filter adapter "sends" the "low oil pressure" message if the PCM detects constant oil pressure readings less than 5 psi. That sending unit is known to fail on occasion. The ONLY way to accurately verify running oil pressures is with a mechanical gauge plumbed (temporarily) into the sending unit port.

The oil level sensor in the front side of the oil pan sends the "check oil level" message. That also has failed, and the dipstick is your friend in this case.
