Please tell me the the Map DVD for the stock Navigation system in a 2004 Escalade EXT is not $400 dollors!?!

I just got my new (Black\Tan, 2004, 20k) Escalade EXT yesterday. But when i got it home, come to find out, there was no MAP DVD (which is need for the navigation to work). I called Steward Cadillac (which i didn't get the truck from but live near by) and they told me it was going to be about $400. They also said the dealers will comonly throw this DVD out so that you will have to spend more money after the deal when you realize it is missing. Buyers beware!

Anyone know where i can get my hands on a US MAP DVD for the stock DVD Navigation for a 2004 Escalade EXT, for a more realistic price?

For $400 i might as well spend a little more and get an after market DVD Player\Navagation unit. Please advise!

I have a 2004 DTS and was told by the dealer yesterday that a replacement is $350 and that it consists of 3 discs because of different time zones. None of that makes sense. First there's no reason why it should cost $350. After all these years, all they do is update the new roads and burn the data base to a 50 cent disk. Second, the time zone stuff is, I think, BS.

In any event, how do I know which version I have and which newer versions will play in my system if I decide to bite the bullet or to try to find one on eBay?

Thanks in advance...

I recently brought my 05 Escalade to the dealership to have some bodywork done. I had some damage from Hurricane Wilma which passed through South Florida and needed some work to be done. When it was finally finished and I went to pick it up, I noticed that all my cd's were gone. I confronted the shop and asked them if it was a simple mistake. The man called someone on his Nextel and had a conversation about my cd's and how he can't forget to put them back in. I became a little suspicious because he seemed to know exactly where the cd's were placed. He walked into an office and came out with all of my cd's except my Navigation cd. I asked him about it and said that it was definitly there and I know they had it. I told them I was not leaving until I had it back in my hands. He went back into the same office, and what a surprise it was when he walked out with the Nav. cd saying he must have missed it. It is most definitly a scam. If I had driven off the lot, they would have most definitly made me purchase new cd. Sorry for the novel, but the moral of the story is to take cd's, especially the Nav. cd with you while leaving your car at the dealership for any reason.

Thanks.

I don't know about your dealership but mine here in Central Pennsylvania is top notch. I have left them my Lade with CD's, DVD's and even my laptop sitting on my back seat and nothing was touched.

Good dealers are worth there weight in gold. The guys and gals are all great people, you need to start shopping for a better dealer. Just my .02 cents.

:yeah:

I regularly leave all my crap in the car when it's in for service and nothing has ever grown legs and walked away on me.

After I talked to the manager in the actual shop, I went to talk to someone in the office and he had told me that nothing has ever been taken out of someone's car on purpose. He told me that it must have been an honest mistake and he is very sorry that my cd's and Nav. cd was not put back in my car. I told him I understood what he was saying but I was still suspicious of the people in the shop because the manager came out very quickly with all my Nav. cd.

Thanks.
