I have a 2002 Deville and earlier this year I have been getting a steering clunk under low speed turning maneuvers. The car is still under warranty and the local dealer has bent over backward to fix the clunk but to no avail. They replaced the rack and pinion, replaced the intermediate steering shaft, replaced the LH tie rod ends, and replaced the steering wheel bearing hub assembly.

I have read some earlier threads on this sight where people say the steering half shaft is at fault. It has nicks on it from Factory mishandling of the shafts during installation. The nicks scrape the grease away and cause the shaft which is a coupling like connection to hang up and hence clunk. This can't be good.

I feel like I have gone as far as I can at the dealer.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Phil

If you can prove to them that they mishandled something during installation, they should IMMEDIATELY fix it!!!!
