I own a 1989 eldorado biarritz and every once in awhile when i go to start it the driver information center says "starting disabled due to theft system" and then it tells me to wait 3 minutes then the car starts. To my knowledge my car does not have a security system. Anyone have an idea what is going on with it. Any help is appreciated thanks

You might need a new resistor chip in the ignition key. Cadillacs come with a factory alarm system, standard. I'm not sure if it was standard back then though...

yep its the key i had the same problem on my 90 deville i still have the car with 3 sets of keys now
