Ok so I have the 2005 3.6l sts I got my new engine in today and it says "starting disabled theft problem" I have tried everything I seen on this site about disabling it. As far as putting the key in the door, pressing the button on the FOB...none of those are working. The FOBs do lock and unlock the doors, radio and everything works it just wont start for me and the message wont go away. UGH I really just want her back on the road lol. How do I fully/completely reset this system. Any help or Advise is need. Thanks ALL.

So idiot what's the damn problem? Instead of thinking you sound smarter than you are! Simple! Answer the damn question!
Welcome to the forums! KingMack hasn't logged on in years so not likely he will see your comment. Just a little friendly caution to stick to the subject without getting personal with the flames.
It only asks for fob 3 if 1 or 2 is within range. Put those fobs FAR AWAY until the car asks for fob 1.

Like I wrote before, I'm not optimistic, but I haven't read about theft protection sensing the engine; it's usually the Bose Premium Info-tainment system.

The hood-latch has been known to set the theft systm. Maybe someone else has an idea for you.

Don't try to guess your way through this procedure. If you don't have a manual, do plan on getting one. There are links to free pdf versions around here somewhere.
i dont get what range mine works at 100ft. to lock or unlock doors. and set alarm
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Was a simple fix but kinda long took 30mins but simple. If anyone else has this problem feel free to message me it wasnt hard at all. Anyone can do it themselves. Thank you everyone that helped out with this crazy problem.

Having an issue
yea I put it in the arm rest it said "known FOB" I hope i dont need a dealer...I came across this which I guess someone else tried what do you guys think about it??

1. Put key into the ignition and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "Security" indicator light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.

2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF" then return to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY)

3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY)

4. When the light goes off for the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.

then the tech said this....

From what you have described here this does sound like the vehicle went into theft protect mode and the key needs relearned. This doesn't have to be done by a dealer and it sounds like you have the correct procedure however on step 3 after the third time doing this make sure you turn your key off again before trying to start the vehicle.

If you have a start button instead of the key hole then you would have the key on you and push the start button with your foot off the brake to turn on the ignition then go through the steps.

Keep in mind you have to have a good charge in the battery when doing this,if voltage goes low it will reset the learn procedure. You can do this with a battery charger connected to the vehicle if needed.Or you can replace the battery and do this procedure.

what you think??
Hey guys just had the same issue 1/ 20/ 23.... I did the 10 min and it WORKSSS
