I think my starter is having troubles. I turn the key on and nothing happens but light click then I keep trying and it will start. If this is the starter where is it located? 2008 CTS.
Thanks.

It doesn't hurt to check the battery anyways. A load test will verify it's OK. I once replaced an alternator, charged up the battery and had the battery go dead again. So I figured the battery was giving up and was going to replace it. The shop I was towed to insisted on checking the alternator. I agreed. As he lifted it out of the engine, 2 diodes fell out on the floor of the garage. "There's your problem, those are supposed to be inside the alternator". Bad parts aren't very common, but verifying that the newer part is indeed good can't hurt. It can sometimes eliminate a lot of headaches and head scratching trying to find a problem.

any update to this cause I'm having the same issue when I turn the ignition, all I hear is a click and a hiss. The battery is also relatively new. All electronics in the car is working and the voltage reads 11.9-12.5 when the ignition is on. I will switch the relay today to see if it's that...praying it is and not having to buy a new starter

It's the starter, dead relay contacts might click lightly, but hot wires and bad starter motors/solenoids make other noises when they try, but can't do their job. When you hear the click from inside the car, that's the starter solenoid engaging and not being followed by the motor spinning over.

Check advance auto along with their 25% off coupon floating around the net. When mine went out with the same symptoms, they had the best same day deal using that coupon at the time in 2017. It was raining and a huge storm was coming at the time.

Welp, looks like the wagon. Will have to be towed to A muffler shop to complete the swap. The starter has been loosened but the freaking bolt to lower the exhaust from the catalytic converters is very stiff and will likely have to be broken, drilled and replaced.

Any one know the part number for the bolts?

Clean and lubricate the nut and work it back and forth, screwing it back on, cleaning and lubricating behind it and attempting to remove it again, it should come off. Even if it breaks you should be able to drill around/through the remnants of the original and stick a new bolt and nut in its place. This certainly is not something I'd bother a tow driver for. Think about it, if you're not successful, you'll end up doing what you already planned to do.

We were able to replace the starter without removing or lowering the exhaust. It was a pain but It was done. Was not able to install the heat shield back tho.
