Aniken Skywalker dba Darth Vader; was he evil, misdirected, or a angry young man? Did he have any remorse or have any love in his heart?
I think he was a complex man after having seen all the movies several times.

It's the greatest films ever made when looking at the revenue it generated under the reins of George Lucas. What's your take on Lord Vader?

Well, I thought the way he became Darth Vader was absolute c***.
The 3rd film was a lot better than the 1st two (in chapter order, not chronological order, the original 3 were the best) but the way he became Darth Vader as a concept was good, but the fact that the Emperor persuading him was like a 4 sentence exchange was very weak.

In theory the story worked, but when you actually see Aniken go and kill all the little children, I couldn't believe it. How could he suddenly do that? Choke his wife, try to kill his best friend?

He and Obiwan were vertually invulnerable as a Jedi Team. Did he not remember that? That is where the story really suffers.

In MY episode three Luke, Obiwan, Yoda, and Quigon (from the future) do an intervention via the force and show vader what he will become and he changes paths and kills the emperor and becomes the greatest Jedi that ever lived. Now that would have been a story, episode IV never happens!!

But I am just a romantic!!

What really made Aniken turn to Darth? When he went to the Dark Side he was at war with peace and the Jedi. The deaths were the casualities of war.
Just like the A Bombs in Japan..women, children, the sick, the aged were killed by the peace loving Americans in just moments. Look at the Civil War. We killed our fellow countrymen in number greater than all following wars put together.

Of course Darth was ill led by the Dark Side but he still remained the greatest Jedi Knight and that's what made him so interesting plus possibly the greatest movie anti-hero of our times.

NO, Aniken was a Jedi Knight, Vader was a Lord of the Sith. Not the same thing, a Jedi could never kill innocents.
Anaken is Darth Vader and the Father of Luke Skywalker. He saved his SON in the final episode, destroyed the evil Emperor and died himself doing so. Don't you remember Luke taking the helmet off of his Father as he was in his arms dieing? Don't you remember it was the Jedi that trained anaken? They trained him to well.

Akakin was betrayed by his own ambitions, along with his fear of loss. Palpatine demonstrated this all to well by calling on Anakin's weaknesses.

His own ambitions would be as follows:

He wanted to become the greatest Jedi ever. He wanted to be able to travel every star system there was (Episode I). In Episode II, he was that Jedi, but was still in training, thus he felt he was being held back from his greatest potential. He thought of himself as a great swordsman like Yoda, and felt that he was ahead of Obi-Wan. Because of these things, this created an element of resentment for his contemporaries and thus caused some anger.

His main fears began as:

Anger however became more apparent as his greatest fear became reality: the death of his mother. His anger as we all know was manifested by killing the dozens of Tuskin Raiders reponsible for his mother being killed. It was after this moment as we know that he revealed that he wanted even more power, to stop death over those he cares for...

Now let's go to Episode III where all of these issues take hold, and Palpatine, being the evil genious that he is, takes Anakin's fears and such to turn them into what Anakin eventually became: Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. Palpatine used fear for the death of Anakins wife to gain entry into a mind that was quite confused and promised power beyond imagination.

Now this sort if thing can be proven today: has anyone ever been through such a tramatic event that everytime they think about it, they go into an entirely different state of mind because of the fear that it might happen again? Now let's say that the event was pushed back into the mind and hidden for years. You become more and more content with the way you've gone through life without remembering that event...You do the right things, you appear to be beyond that event...Until there is something that triggers the emotions that event cause way back in the past. You would likely become very confused and fearful and do things that aren't considered normal by your self made standards. Perhaps your fears will lead to anger and it will push you to such extremes to change a possible outcome, forever this time...When someone is backed into a corner like that, guess what will happen?

That's what happened to Anakin. He foresaw the death of his wife, which reminded him of his mother's death. Those fears caused him to become more and more confused, until he was completely shaken from his personal foundation...Until Palpatine seen this and gave him hope that things can be different...Palpatine used his past resentment of Akakin's ambitions as well as his fears of loss to transform him into Vader.

That's basically what happened to young Skywalker. "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." - Master Yoda.

Very good Illumina. I see you too are a student of the Star War films. We could have shared more at the Ohio Meet had I known.

Do you think George Lucas left a lot of unanswered questions in the last episode to lead to yet another film? Some enthusiasts have expressed that to me. I sure would love to see another release!!

I haven't bought the latest CD as I asked for it for Christmas. I'm sorry I said that now as I see it available everywhere. Oh well it's less than a month away. Do you have all the episodes?

The only thing I do not have from Episode III are the latest actions figures :(

But I have all of the movies, including the older VHS boxed set before the special edition releases from the late '90's, as well as the special edition boxed set in VHS in widescreen. I have the boxed set of the original three movies on DVD in widescreen, as well as all of the new movies on DVD. I also have Episodes I & II in widescreen VHS, from before I got a new DVD player.

But yeah, I was under the impression that there might be a TV series that follows the in-between years from Episode III and Episode IV, but I'm not too sure if that was rumor or fact.

As for the DVD, well, I won't ruin it for you, but there are some very good deleted scenes that should have been left in the film. They are worth about 6-8 minutes total, but once you see them, you'll understand exactly what I mean by it.

Sounds similar to me. I have two sets of VHS 4, 5, & 6. The trilogy pack with the deleted scenes are in one of those. i& 2 are DVDs. I'd like to have everything on DVDs as magnetic tape fails in storage. There are ways to prolong the life if anyone is interested.

Yeah, that worries me a little. Maybe I should pop them in and watch them next week, as soon as finals are over with.

But there is one question I didn't answer: Anakin wasn't evil to start with. The things he did later in his Vader years sure made him so, but even in Episode III Lucas did a good job in showing the remorse of the new and young Vader. It was quite obvious that Lucas intended to show the conflict of good and evil within the same person.

The spirt of the Jedi was always within Anakin. Even though he bacame Vader, and thus an agent of evil, that spirt was still lingering, just hiding deep away in himself. Just ask Palpatine once he was tossed over the rail in the throne room...It was always there; it was a matter of redemption.

Now Star Wars nuts, let's duscuss the true meaning of Palpatine's secret to immortality...

:yup:

According to the Expanded Universe, I think he was cloned and his Sith spirit came back to the new body.

Just remember: "Strong am I with the force, but not that strong." - Yoda telling Luke this upon Yoda's death...There might be something there, like, only one strong enough with the force can avoid death, even if for a short while.

But I think the main thing is the spiritual immortality that the Jedi and Sith are after. Obi-Wan and Yoda both did this, and according to Episode III, Qui-Gon Jinn achieved this as well. It is likely then that Anakin learned this to because he became a force spirit after his death, though he probably learned it from the Sith...

Holy Sh!t illumnia you know your stuff. Strut some more. What is the Expanded Universe?

Do you see Lucas doing a 7th episode based on immortal spirits? Assuming it's possible, how many characters might have the power to return to cloned bodies?:bouncy: We got any Star War Fans getting excited about now?:D

The Expanded Universe is all of the officially licensed stuff like the books and what have you that are not in the movie. Below I have provided a link that will give every little detail you can take in without actually reading any of the books and everything else. It's about the best thing that can be found on the web that entails the Star Wars universe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars

Now for an Episode VII, I am pretty sure that Lucas has stated that he will not be doing it, but I get the feeling that ideas are floating around concerning things like that. If there was an Episode VII, I doubt it would be on what you have touched on. It would probably follow the remains of the Empire or whatever.

http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cach...ars+tv+show&hl=en&lr=lang_en&client=firefox-a

Now I'm not too sure how much of the contents in the above link are bullshit, and the article is also dated pre-mEpisode III, but there might be something to it. It says the show would be animated :thehand:
