While that is good news, I still don't like the use of chrome anywhere in the driver's area. I don't even like the chrome shift gate and gauge trim rings on my 06 SRX.
HEAR HEAR! Vehicles do not need interior chrome or shiny aluminum as the case may be. There are times I have to drop something over the gear shift to block the sun reflecting in my eyes from the chrome shift gate. The '05 does not have any other interior chrome. While that is good news, I still don't like the use of chrome anywhere in the driver's area. It took a while for the interior of my 04 CTS to grow on me. That made accepting the old-style interior of the 06 SRX easier for me.... and I to tried to sit there and justify why mine (old one) was better because... we understand lol...
We have the 05-06 interior and no, we don't feel slighted in the least. Personally I like the 05-06 interior. The 07 certainly has a nice improvement in the stitched dash but I think it gave some thing up elsewhere... anyone with the old interior I'm sure feels slighted, I would, it has happened to me in the past and I to tried to sit there and justify why mine (old one) was better because... we understand lol...

Nope, I don't hang my head in shame one bit!
Well, Just to nitpick, post some pics of the old interior and I'll put them side by side to the 07' you can show me where, and I'll apologize to all... like I said before, that bold highlighted statement is exactly what I was talking about lol...
No need. My point was in reference to your comment that all pre-07 owners are/should be jealous and disappointed.post some pics of the old interior and I'll put them side by side to the 07' you can show me where, and I'll apologize to all... like I said before, that bold highlighted statement is exactly what I was talking about lol...
I like the old interior for its techno look. It looks better in the SRX than the CTS. Dash seems too big for a smaller vehicle iMHO. But I don't like a tan interior with a black dash. I put the cabash on a car deal last yaer because the dash and the interior were very different colors. But i do understand the glare issue.Well, Just to nitpick,
With the old interior and the tan leather we got flat black dash. With the new interior you just get a darker shade of brown on the dash. I prefer the black dash to keep glare down to a minimum.
And I get a Nav system with a 6 disc changer. New interior has a single CD with the Nav system.
Overall though I think the new interior is better than the old.
Damn, a V8 SRX AND a Yukon,Is it me or does anyone else miss the door safety lights, which warn oncoming traffic that your door is open and put some light on the ground?? My '04 has them on the front doors only. Did I miss them on the '07?? And still no lower glove box lite? (forgot to check new '07 upper glove box!)
My '03 Yukon has them on all 4 doors! Bright red/white! Nice!
You nailed it! The oil guys send me Christmas cards!! LOL. Until I retire, I want nice wheels and work hard to have them. Re: interior comments..... Ditto, Ditto, Ditto!Damn, a V8 SRX AND a Yukon, the oil co's must love you even more than me!
Anyhow, ive been touting the interior refinements of the 07 for several months now. I followed the Edmunds Long Term test for a good amount of the time that they had it and they just could not help but constantly praise the superb new interior of the 07 in comparison to what it used to be. It really is a SUBSTANTIAL improvement over the somewhat austere previous interior. In comparison, the hideous monstrosity called the Mercedes R500 got nothing but negative remarks for an illogical interior, a difficult nav system, and ridiculously obese exterior specs and weight.
And its always the little things that count. The stitching on the dash leather is something that has been LONG overdue on domestic cars just like the ruffles in the door armrests were a mainstay on Japanese cars but missing from domestics for most of the 80s and 90s. I remember when the '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited came out, the interior appointments over the standard Limited were just enough to make it stand out over its regular brethren, especially the door ruffles.
I dont think you will find another crossover for the money that will give you the same combination of luxury, performance and utility on the market right now period, the interior is just another bonus.
And yes, I agree about the security lamps, very nice feature. My Escalade also has the puddle lamps underneath the mirrors.
