I just bought my ATS last week and immediately noticed this square imprint in both of my front seats. It is much worse on the passenger seat...I tried to highlight it in the picture.

Does anyone else have this or know what it is?? photo (1).JPG

The seat heater maybe? The passenger seat doesn't have the vibrator function. Either way, it looks like a defect in the leater that should be covered under warranty.

I've got the same indents/imprints on both my Morello Red seats as well.

I assume it's a bracket of some sort for the leg extension...

Not a seat warmer, that part of my seat is always freezing even after the Warner's have been on for a while

I wonder if that will be a fix or if the objects underneath will simply wear into the next set of seat covers?

There is nothing under there. We popped it off and looked. It seemed like excess glue/lining under there that caused it.

That's odd. When I run my hand over it I definitely feel a raised area where the imprints are. I wonder if it's just the padding though.

I'll bring it up to my dealer when I go in for an oil change. I also have the issues of the creaking steering wheel and tougher-to-close driver side door to contend with as well.

I just went through this today with my Dealer (2013 ATS) and in my case it is the Safety Alert Seat mechanism that is protruding up through the seat cover on both lower Driver's side bolsters. An inspection of new 2014 ATSs on his lot showed the same condition.
Seems the device sits in a foam pocket ( not deep enough in my opinion) and then some covering over it -- not adequate to mask its location. Maybe for functionality it is so close to the surface - but Cadillac could and should do better to mimic the smooth fit and finish of the matching passenger seat.
Anyway - I am not happy with no remedy here. Most leather driver's seats tend to not look fresh after a while anyway and now we have a condition at the onset of ownership with this distortion in the bolsters when the Driver Awareness Package option is provided on the car. Thank you very much re $845.00 for this unsightly feature !!!
