After having to have our 2004 N* repaired from an accident, we decided to buy a 2007 Sport Pkg same color and LOVE it. In the process of getting the 2004 sheet metal fixed (no frame, engine or really major damage), I had the bright idea to put the 2007 Sport Grill etc. on the car and, guess what, it worked. The body shop had to order the parts kinda hit and miss as evidently Cadillac does not list them as a "package" per se. Tried to also do the rear but, because of connectors, sensors etc. being different, could not do the rear. Also the exhaust system had to stay 2004 as the manifolds evidently changed 2004 to 2007 V8?!

Several surprises along the way but yes, you CAN substitute the Sport FE onto a 2004. I think it looks smashing and boy you should see the admiring folks around the dealership as I came to pick up the car today.

I have included a couple of pictures and we are listing the car in the classifieds as it is a low mileage Cadillac Certified car that, despite some major cosmetic repairs, will make someone a very happy owner.

If you know of anyone either interested in the conversion issues OR sincerely interested in buying the vehicle, please contact me at [email protected].

:eek:Well, first off it all was a function of Cadillac Parts not having a list of what comprises the Sport Package. There is no bill of materials to guide them as to all the little "different" parts. Then, when they ordered the replacement washer bottle, for example, "it used to come with the pump", surprise...ha ha.
They first assembled the car WITHOUT the mesh grill behind the upper and lower grill openings.....what a laugh....I had to point them to a Sport model with the grill and then they finally had to order things against OUR 2007 VIN # to make sure the parts were correct......and the beat went on....but I am glad I did it and since the parts were being replaced anyway, the buyer of the 2004 will get a even better bargain....LK:)

The conversion looks great! Thanks for posting the pics. I'm planning to do the same to my '04. I'm also curious as to what the surprises were. I thought you basically needed the front bumber cover, grill assembly, and the inner fender liners. Am I missing something?

Now all I need is for my front end to get damaged....sigh

Thanks....yeh I like the look and EVERYONE seems to gawk...."Is that a custom front end?!)

There were little parts that were also required (per the body shop) other than the obvious ones.....like the lamp assys were different somehow, as were the connectors....so....check with your dealer and see if THEY have a bill of materials for the Sport option.....also, note the rear issues (different sensors/connectors, etc.) and the muffler/header mismatch before you charge into that one....but in a pinch get the VIN from a 2007 sport and order parts for it and that will fix the problem....LOL

I won't be doing the rear conversion, just the front. Are you saying the the turn signal/fog light assemblies have to swapped also?

The original question was never would the "facia" for the sport grill fit the front end of the SRX, BUT would the actual "grille" fit in the front of the stock facia.

but of course, it looks nice, color matching is king

I read somewhere that the sport grille will not fit in the non sport grille opening.
If it does, I'll be doing that.

I had thought about replacing the grill with a billet, but why change something that is perfectly fine.

I recently purchased an 05 SRX to replace my totaled out 97 STS with only 40K miles. Less than a month after getting the SRX, I had a neighbor practice parallel parking at night with a lerner's permit. Needless to say I have white clips that keep falling from the front bumper assembly. I have gotten 2 quotes, one for just painting and one for replacing the bumper skin and paint. It doesn't look like there was any structural damage and the lights seem to be intact. Is there anything that I should be looking for from the repair that that the body shops may gloss over.

Does anyone know what these 3/4" long white cylindrical clips are from? My power stearing cooler is untouched and the hoses don't seem to be anywhere near the point of impact. But these clips look like they would secure a hose.

The body shops weren't going to replace the licence frame that was flattened and now is held off 1/2" from the bumper by 3 of 4 rivetts. Their comment was this miss-allignment is due to manufacturing tolernces. I pointed out the mounting stud is flaired and streched 1/2", equal to the new gap that is now between it and the bumper.

My vertial licence plate is missing 20% of its paint, which is embossed on the 6" hoizonal upper skin of the Celica that hit me. It's hard for me to believe that the bumper can fold back 6", punch out a fiberglass trunk facia and not need anything more than paint.

I want to know what those white pieces that I have found falling from the car are. I will look to see if I find anything more falling in my driveway tonight. One broken clip stayed with the vehicle for over 100 miles and 4 days before it was jarred loose by the estimater, who didn't see it since it waited to fall in my driveway.
