speed sensor

Does anyone know where the speed sensor is located on the 97 Concours? I think mine may be out because my odometer/speedomoter does not work, and the car randomly gasses itself making the car "jump". When this happens I usually pull over and slip it into neutral and the rpm will then fly up to 2 or even 2500. The transmission is strange too because it shifts REALLY late and does not seem to go into fourth. Does this sound like a speed sensor issue? Can I change it myself or do I need a mechanic?
Here are the codes it's reading out to me:

IPC U1255
RSS C1783
RSS C1785

If anyone can help I would be very appreciative. Thanks so much.

The speed sensor is on top of the trans toward the rear. I doubt it is causing your problem though.

Yup, you were right. I got the speed sensor changed today and my speedometer/odometer still does not work. My car had previous flood damage so I thought that maybe the gauge cluster has some loose wires or rust so I took my whole dash apart and everything in the guage is clean and rust free. All of my other guages work too. I don't know what else it could be. Any ideas or suggestions before I take it to the dealership?

Thank you for reading this.
