06 Z06 Test drive :2thumbs:
This Test Drive is all about performance, and the 6th generation Corvette Z06 is performance with a capital “P”. With a 7-litre, 505 horsepower, all-aluminum pushrod V8 under the hood, and a light and stiff Corvette chassis riding on huge Goodyears, the Z06 is capable of performance that surpasses rival supercars costing four-times the money. Watch Test Drive yourself and you’ll see why Auto Week says that at $66,000.00, the new Z06 is the “Greatest Value in Supercar History” .

To be honest, I thought it was a horrible. There was no 0-60 or 1/4 mile testing, no interior close-ups, and the camera was always so far away that it made the cars look slow. The best part of the whole show was the C6R.

I can recite all the performance numbers in my sleep. I have more promotional material from GM with interior shots, etc. I just wanted to see the Z06 in motion, on a track where it belongs. Sure I would've liked to see them push the Z's a little harder but it's a TV show. In fact, other than the peeling rubber on take off I don't recall any sideways corners.

Jeff Gordon had to fight the wheel at one point. The scene where the C6R passed the Z06s was sweet. The problem with the overall show is that they tried to put too much into a half hour. I could have done without the time spent at LeMans and the Corvette Museum entirely.

The Z is really a spectacular bargain.

I saw Jeff's aw-shit moment. We needed to see a shot of that outside the car to appreciate it. My guess is it was when they had that down hill, off camber sweeper. Car probably got light and caught him off guard. Had to be good if it got Jeff's attention.

Funny Ha-Ha, or funny Queer?

I have met Chris. He has a cool car. He gave me a key chain, and a womens golf shirt. Luckily there was no motel key on the key chain.

The jury is still out,

Chris
