I wouldn't worry about the temporary spare. I had a blowout on my 1988 Olds 98 once and had no trouble driving 400km home with the temp spare, much of it over 120 kph. They're engineered very tough. In fact, I remember reading a Car and Driver article where they put the spacesaver spare on a Corvette and did their complete battery of tests on it including skidpad and acceleration. I think it was something like only 0.1 second slower to 60mph, although they painted the pavement almost the whole way with it
.
Having said that, I certainly wouldn't dissuade anyone from getting a real spare. But with blowouts such a rare occurrence on modern tires, I personally wouldn't spend the money.
