I do not currently own a Caddy but am seriously considering one. My brother and I were arguing about a "special edition" Eldo that had a more powerful (more than 300hp) that was available. I did not think there is one. Was there?


btw I am warming up to the Eldorado ETC. Seeing that I do not really use the back seat to move people. Plus the two door is sportier looking.

ESC: 275hp
ETC: 300hp

I beleive that Eldo 1953 is correct. When cady came out with 295/300 it was the more powerful (on paper) my brother is talking about. Thanks for the replies. I am still curious though. When did they introduce the 300hp motor?

94 - Touring Coupe has the 4.6L north* with 295HP
95 - Base model has the 4.6L North* with 275HP
95 - ETC has the 4.6L North* with 300HP

The extra 5hp came in 95 when the intake was changed on the Northstar.

As a sidenote, I have GM literature rating the Northstar at 290hp when it was first introduced.

I think where that "Special Edition" rumor started was on ebay last summer. Someone had a Seville STS with aftermarket aluminum rims, and a sticker on the Valve Cover indicating "Special Edition 320HP". I almost fell for it. As it turned out, it was a regular STS with aftermarket rims and supposedly an aftermarket computer chip which advertised 320 HP. The chip came with a sticker which someone stuck on the engine. After that here have been rummors of Special Editions.
This all started as a little confusion on the part of someone who was selling a car which he knew very little about.
