I have the 19" factory wheels, all wheel drive and no spare tire, it has the compressor preloaded with the fix-o-flat stuff. My car is not a garage queen and will see lots of highway miles and I would feel safe having a spare. With that being said I would need a spare that works with the AWD....same size as the rest of the wheels...correct? Where would I find one AND lug wrench/jack set up too.

a full size spare is going to take up a lot space, it won't fit in the spare tire area.

Could you buy a compact spare and if you get a flat, put the compact spare up front and pull the AWD fuse?

How much time would that spare be on the car?
I would think for emergency purposes, the optional spare size for the CTS would be fine until a proper replacement could be sourced.

Just no drives from coast to coast on a donut. That would be bad.

If your trunk was not built for a spare tire, then I suggest you just buy another regular size tire and keep it in the trunk. The spare will not have any special area to fit seamlessly, and if you are going to have extra stuff rolling around in there might as well have a full size spare. You can probably buy a stock rim from a junkyard or online and then slap on a tire.

Mine came with a donut spare and the compartment under the trunk to hold it with the lug wrench and jack. However when you buy a lug wrench make sure it fits with your nuts, I recently found out my lug nuts are not stock as they do not match the lug wrench that came with the car.

I rode 50,000 miles with NO spare. had AAA premium but never used them. I did have not one, but two tires get screwed at the same time. I carry two air pumps two can of sealers (they do have an expiration time) and flat plug kit.
The warning light came on my way south on I 15 thru the Arizona canyons. and no place to pull over I drove to the first exit after the canyon and tire pressure was 20 PSI when I stopped. It was only 110 degrees outside in the shade and there is NO shade.
I found the fnn screw and plugged it and said what the hell I am going to buy new tires anyway so I filled it with foam tire repair. Filled it with air and got back in the car to dive away. Oh NO the Tire pressure light is still on. I check the pressure on the screen and find the other front tire is now low on air pressure. I can not find a screw in the tire. Check it with a hand held gauge and it is low so just pour the tire fix it to it and fill it with air and drive home and order two new front tires.

There is a spare tire for that car. It is approximately $400 for that spare tire. It is the same spare tire we all get. You do NOT want to put a full size spare in the trunk as you won't have a trunk anymore. I did this with mine because I didn't want to spend the $400 for a spare. However if you get the doughnut spare it is only to get you to a service location to get another tire do NOT drive on it for an extended period of time. I would also strongly suggest putting it on the rear regardless of what tire goes flat on you. So if you have a front tire go flat I would strongly suggest putting the doughnut spare on one of the rear locations then moving THAT tire to the front to replace the flat. Otherwise it can drastically change your steering. I have been told (And I believe it says this in the manual as well) that the AWD will turn off when you install the much smaller doughnut spare due to the circumference of the tire and it will know it is wrong based on the wheel speed sensor.

Part of the reason I went to a wagon. Luckily my wagon came with a spare...

Thank you all for the responses and idea. I know that a spare is not for long term use and @The Flash, I grew up in AZ, I know all about the heat and you’re lucky your tires didn’t come apart and destroy your body work, I've had that happen on more than one occasion....not fun, especially at highway speeds. I have the cutaway for the spare in the truck, I’ll find a space saver with a jack and wrench, do a little fab work and remount the pump because that’s always good to have. Next month I’m taking her from Michigan to Maryland to see some family, first time out of state. Last weekend I did a northern Michigan trip, Alpena area....beautiful drive around the lake and great people...highly recommend it before winter time. Safe travels my friends.

And having lived in West Michigan most of my life I would strongly suggest switching to Snow tires when winter somes and you wouldn't believe the difference it makes.

You guys should also have the spare checked and filled with air every oil change as well. Once I neglected it for like 3 years and when I put on the spare it basically dropped to the floor. Luckily I had called the AAA guy to swap it (My lug wrench didn't fit) and he had an air pump to pump it up.

But it was a small pump so took like 20 minutes to get from 15 psi to 60 psi.

After having to call several tow trucks before finding one that could tow with a flat front tire without ripping off my air dam with their cables as they attempted to drag it up their flatbed, I bought a spare from Modern Spare. I also bought a tow eye, jack, lug wrench and retaining bolt from the dealer. I think the price was near $400 for all the pieces, but I did not like the tow truck or fix-a-flat approach. I should also point out that a tow eye may only be good for 2009 and earlier cars as the hole may not be threaded in later cars. GM saving money . . .

I check it every so often. Like before a long trip. It is in great shape otherwise and I don't waste a lot of time checking it. Would be nice if they just added it to your system so it would tell you it is low.

It is technically NOT a tow eye... This has been addressed before. It is only there for export cars to be held down during shipping. If someone pulls it up on their truck using that hook make sure they go very slowly as it can pull out of your bumper easily and it is not intended to pull your car at all let alone if you need to be towed because you got stuck in the snow.

Audi does have the spare in the TPMS system. That was a nice feature. First time the light went on I looked at all of the four tires on the ground. Nothing wrong, so I'm thinking wtf? Then I looked at the spare and I figured it out.

Some of our earlier cars had the female screw for a tow eye. Your results may vary.

Certainly would be nice to have that feature on the GM cars...

This "tow eye" was talked about in another thread and I am sure someone looked it up and found out it was only for shipping purposes for export cars but GM left them in all cars originally. I have to admit, I see a lot of CTS's running around in my area. It is hard for me to drive more than 30 minutes in 2 way traffic and not see a couple of them. The Coupes seem more numerous than the wagons.

One of the first women I dated when I became single this time around was with me when I bought my wagon. She told her mom what I was doing and her mom said something about showing my age... I was like WTF, I would have bought the wagon when I was 20 if I knew what it was and had the cash back then.

$30 at the recycling center is better. Just have not had a round tuit. Do Camaros have one ?
The V6 Camaro had the available option.
Like our cars, not all opted for it.
It's my understanding that the V8 version of the mullet mobile didn't offer one.
