OK,

The past two days it has rained out in the early am. and when i pull out of the driveway in the morning i can clearly hear running water like a distant brook.

It is on the passenger side. Am I going crazy or is this really happen? Anyone else experience this?

you are crazy LOL
alright, so i admit to some level of craziness but i am still hearing running water
Is there dew on your car.. maybe the angle you park at is causing water to settle in the drip rail on the hood or in the trunk on the lip, or in the engine bay on the lip. The water could be running off of that.
well it is definately the excess water sitting on the wax on the hood. the sound is just obvious that for the first minute or two of driving (with radio off) all you hear is running water. sounds like the right side of the center console.
I had about 8 inches of packed snow on the roof of my Ranger that finally thawed loose this spring. The first time I hit the brakes after the thaw, it all slide over the windshield in heavy traffic. The noise was similar to an avalanche. Whoopee!
Take a look and the ground between the wheels, is your a/c drain dripping on the ground. What can happen is the A/C drain can and will plug up causing water to slosh around in the heater box. Have the dealer check it out. also your sunroof drains run through the A-pillar when you move the car you can hear the water running through these drains, but that's up by your head.

Chris/ Chicago Thanks for your advise. Matt
i heard the same thing just yesterday. no idea what it was, but it hasalso been raining on and off here for the last couple of days. also i don't have a sunroof
I've got the exact same problem, the distinct sound of water running on the passenger side. Problem is I can not only hear the sound of water, my passenger side floor mat is drenched. Someone indicated it could be a blocked drain plug, anyone else have this problem ??
I wouls suspect two things at first thought. The A/C hose not draining properly or water collecting in the trunk bezel. The second happened to me even on the new bezel.
I had the same thing in my Infiniti. Never figured out what it was, I thought I was going crazy too, but I had a friend with a mazda 6 that made the same noise somewhere in behind the dash on the passenger side every morning...
Have the dealer check your heater core for leaks.
On some early ones they had problems with the HVAC cases sealing at the center. It's split right up the middle and the heater core and evaporator core are right above. There is a drain off to one side that goes down through the floor right by the driver's right foot.
Even with normal drainage, heavy AC use in humid climates can cause water to leak out the center of the case and get onto the carpet.
If the HVAC drain is plugged the case will be full of water and the case will likely leak water into the passenger compartment.
Also if you have a sunroof, the channels can be collecting water and the water drains down some tubes that go down both front A-pillars and the b pillars.
You could have a "low coolant" condition that will cause a gurgling sound as the air passes through the heater core also. Check your coolant level.
Not many other ideas come to mind at the moment.
