Hello, my name is Andrew and I'm 17 years old. But not worries. I'm not an idiot iterested in putting a parkbench wing on my soon to be Cadillac. I have a very strong intrest in cars. I think I got it from my father. Only, even though we share the same itrest in cars we do not share the same taste. He is in love with old school muscle cars. I on the other hand lean more towards the import scene. Like most teenagers my age. The sound of a Twin Turbo Toyota Supra almost makes me wet myself.
I have been into DSM's for the last 2 years. My current ride is a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. It has a turbocharged four cylinder. It treated me well and has been a fun car. But, if anyone here knows of these cars, they are a far cry from reliable. My parents and myself are worried that my addiction to making these cars insanely fast will keep me from a good education after I graduate due to the fact that I already work on it more than I should and I dump every penny I earn into it. So, my parents and I decided to get away from it and it is now for sale.
We are going through the process of purchasing a 1997 Catera. Now, I am fully aware that this is not the best year. I know the line has had some problems up till 99. But, the dealership we are purchasing it from has taken very good care of us in the past and has agreed to fix a couple small problems it has at the moment.
Clunking in the front end
New brakes
Moisture in the oil
We are unsure of what exactly is causing the moisture in the oil, but from what I've read there is a problem with the oil coolers? If that is the case, they will fix it. However, we are thinking it might be an intake manifold gasket also? Maybe not. However, they are going to fix the problem and change the oil.
Here is some basic information on it
1997 Cadillac Catera
76k miles
Beige(sp?) exterior slight rust bubbles on the driver and passenger front doors. No problem, we know someone that is very good with body work that can handle this with no problem.
Tan leather interior, drivers seat is a little worn out. No biggie.
BOSE sound system
6 cd changer located in the trunk
Chrome wheels
3.0 V6
Pretty much all the options. Its fully loaded, I don't remember everything. But it belonged to the dealership owners close friend. And she is an older lady. So it hasn't been abused. Which is good. Its a one owner and carfax checked out great. So, if all goes well I will be cruising in a Cadillac! :yup:
Thanks for the space,
Andrew
