I got that amp for $280 never used and I was wondering what sub setup I should match with it. I don't want like an overwelming amount of bass, and I was thinking of something in a sealed enclosure that it comes in. I know that I could do my own but I heard that with a box that you do yourself the frequency isn't right or something and that makes it sound bad, etc.

I want some real nice bass, good and controlled. I want to feel it more than hear it, you know? That's why I was wanting a sealed enclosure. I can always sell the amp off though if someone has a better, less powerful combo to suggest.

Thanks guys!

What do you want to run? 2 subwoofers or a single powerful subwoofer? If its a single sub you might want this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-h90ahf9kr1Q/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=510&I=2065VS12L5 comes in its own enclosure. if you want to run two try this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-h90ahf9kr1Q/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=500SWR1242 those and most J/Ls hit hard too. My subs Sony Explod heres the model # XS-L120P5W I got both of them at wal mart for 147.83 total. They were in best buy for that price each. These subs hit hard with the right rms. Thats all you have to do really is match the rms of the sub within 50 amps more or less of the amplifier to run it safely. If the amp puts more power than it should dont crank the volume up all the way.
But from experience (cuz all my freinds have systems in thier cars trucks and suvs) if you want bass you can feel look for dual voice coil subs with low impedance. Brands such as boston acustics, Kicker, J/L, Alpine, and JBL. Wire your mono amp to run your subs run the positives to the positive terminal and the negatives to the negative terminal. The diagram below is to wire the Alpine Type Rs if you get them

Hey man. Alright I don't really care what I get, two or one. But the box is going in the trunk, and this is where the problem is. I was thinking of the Kicker sealed setup but the trunk is the problem.

See the picture of my (unfinished) trunk below. The little hump for the top part of the gas tank/fuel lines is in the way of something normal. So maybe two of the Alpines in seperate boxes, each at a side or something? I was thinking of the Kicker Solobaric L7 because they are DVC and I've heard that they are really nice, but I'm not really interested in going around rattling my shit I just want really smooth, clear bass you know? That is why I don't want ported.

I want sealed, because once again I don't really want BOOMs I just want to feel it, I can't really explain it.

Is that wiring diagram correct for any DVC 4 ohm speakers? What about DVC 2-ohms?

Thanks man I really appreciate it

Alright, did some talking and research.

What I have decided on is this:

Two Infinity Perfect 12" subs, with dual 4 ohm voice coils, each in their own sealed, 1.0 cubic foot Q-Logic boxes. I will place a box/sub on either side of the hump, and they will be attached in the back with angle iron or something. They will be anchored with 90* or "L" brackets. This way the box is perfect specs, and I can navigate around the hump and save useable space.

Subs:

Boxes:

Sound good? Will this setup and the amp be ideal, wiring them like the diagram showed in the previous post?

One more thing, how much bass will this really be?

How much bass depends on the amp you use. If you run 700w total it will be quite a bit. Oh, and never buy stuff from crutchfield... What I think would look pretty nice would be a custom built box that follows the contour of the trunk and covers the whole back (well, towards the front of the car) wall.

Hey. I don't buy stuff from crutchfield, I just browse there. Me and JTraik got together and designed a box that held two and went over the hump while still retaining the needed volume, etc. I may go that way.

Yeah nevermind what I said before I edited this...

Good luck. Sounds like what I thought would be good... post up some pics when you're done.

I was gonna reccomend mounting the subs in the back deck with boxes in the trunk, but then I realized you've got a convertable... (That's what I'll eventually get around to doing to my 75, 400wrms amp, MTX 10" subs. I pity the rear passengers, the subs will be less than a foot from their heads.)

I've been talking with a lot of people, etc.

I've decided to go with the sub and amp setup in my previous post.

Then I will have some Infinity tweets on the front pillar, some Audiobahn 4" (the best 4" i could find lol) in the dash, and then some Infinity 6x9's on the back panel. I think that I will amp the tweets and Audiobahns, as the Audiobahns take 60 watts and the tweets take 50, so a 4 channel 50w x 4 amp would be ideal.

Everything will get some crossovers

1211a is 1300 watts RMS at 2 ohms. Thats with a 14v power supply, with a 12v you will probably get 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Ive heard perfects hooked to two 600watts and it hit pretty hard for what it is. They have really good sound quality, so if thats what you are looking for go with that. They are inexpensive as well, a bill a piece on ebay. Later E
