Took my mom srx shopping and a few questions have come up after leaving the dealer and researching the net. She has decided to go with a performance or premium only as xenon headlamps and nav are personal requirements. Yes I searched here with sub par results.
1. Is there any large difference from 2010 to 2011 except included maintainance.
2. I have found some new 2010 but appears they would only save about $1000.00. Does not seem like enough difference to buy a new 2010 instead of more choices for 2011. Agree or am I missing something.
3. According to the salesman we had, the front parking sensors are only active in reverse to assist in not clipping the car next to you when backing up. Is he right or is there a way to activate them when in drive? Like when you are pulling into a parking space / garage. If he is correct, it seems kinda somewhat useless to have in front bumper.
4. Research shows that KBB may be pretty close on dealer invoice being around $2000.00 to $2500.00 below sticker not leaving much room for negotiations especially on a straight purchase no trade. Anybody get much below dealer invoice?
5. She has decided to wait till March or later for GM to offer better than the current incentive running till 2-28. Any other advice you would offer about the Srx would be appreciated. Thanks.

Only one I can answer is that the front parking sensors DO work when driving forward. Like you said if they didn't what good are they. There is a button on the console that turns them on and off.

No. One new color option.

I think you get the car you love as long as its in your price range. 1K is alot though and if you like the 2010 car that saves you money.

When you are pulling IN to a spot you just click the button to engage it. Really easy and in a good location (next to shifter on passenger side). No issues there.

Not even close - I was over invoice. The car is selling well here and tey don't need to make that kind of deal.

If I were going to wait I would wait until the 2012s come out. Now THEREis a difference! It will have the 3.6L engine.

Good luck.

Yes, 2011 has Onstar 9.0 which enables it to work with the MYONSTAR app on any smart phone. EG....you can remote start, lock/unlock door, blast horn/flash headlites, check gas and tire specs from almost anywhere in the world! Great for far away warm ups/cool downs when returning to SRX from a restaurant or work.

Keyless Access avail (std ?) on upper trim levels if you want it. 2010 only avail on TOP level premium. You know the FREE Maintenance already. Worth more than 1K in my opin.

Best wishes!

I tried hitting that button while she pulled into a spot but it did nothing till she put in reverse then it showed the snow pile was real close up front... guess we'll have to try it in the next one she drives. The button was lit on each start up which I would presume is armed and all the button seemed to do was mute the sound not turn the front sensors on and off. will try again..

thanks to all so far keep the comments coming

There is one additional feature on 2011 that was not available on 2010. While Bluetooth is standard on both years, when you pair your phone via Bluetooth on a 2011, it downloads your phonebook to the vehicle. Very convenient for making calls.

thanks, can anyone else confirm the front sensors work in drive like when you pull into a parking space and if so is it controled by button on center console as stated above meaning the 2 we drove were not functioning properly.

Mine works in reverse only too. I guess they figure you'll be looking at the back-up cam and miss a pole coming closer, as you back up at an angle?

You have to push the button when going forwards, ONCE the vehicle is traveling less then 10kmh/ 6 mph.

All of these are very good observations.

A $1,000 difference/advantage in the purchase price of the 2010 versus the 2011 would not even register on my "interest" level gauge because the depreciated value between the two is higher than that as soon as you sign the papers, before the ink is dry........so I'd be inclined to skip the 2010 and take the 2011. The NADA blue book values between the two will show that.
