After letting the rear end leak for months, I finally broke my golden rule of not wrenching on my daily driver, and I decided to replace the seals myself. I pulled off one axle tonight. Taking my time it was about 1.5 hours. Here's a sneak preview:



Over the next few days I'll post up a complete step-by-step tutorial, based on the exact steps from the GM service manual. I took about 30 pictures tonight, and I'll probably have about the same number for re-assembly.

where's the update on this, i plan on changing my output seals.
thanks man, might end up doing it by then.
a couple of questions for you. did you discard and replace the axle spindle nuts? or reuse them?
did you discard and replace the axle shaft retaining ring? or did you reuse them?
