So who will be first? ZR-1 cam in a CTS-v

This cam can be had from the parts counter for a little over $100 bucks, it's quite a bit bigger then the V2 cam, I'm surprised nobody has installed one.

I'm sure W4M has it on his list.
you still wont get the airflow the Z gets....the CTSv has a smaller volume blower. If youre gonna do the cam, port the heads while youre in there.

Because that cam is not optimal for the LSA. If you're going to upgrade your cam, spend an extra $300-$400 and have the cam custom designed to the LSA motor and the mods you have.

The best way to go about it is to have a set of heads ported for the car, then have a custom cam built to match the heads and your supporting mods.
LSA Cam specs

Valve Lift .480" intake / .480" exhaust

Duration(@.050 in) 198 intake / 216 exhaust

LS9 Cam specs

Valve Lift .562" intake / .558" exhaust

Duration(@.050 in) 211 intake / 230 exhaust
Unless you're going for nutty power, why not just increase the boost (reasonably, of course) and be done with it. :hmm:

My understanding is that this blower isn't really working all that hard in its stock state...
Because the LSA has a very small cam, there is a lot of power to be gained with a bigger cam. The Z06 with the 7.0L has a good size cam in it, but there are aftermarket cams that just turn the car into an even bigger beast. I'm sure big numbers could be achieved with a bigger cam in the LSA. Luckily with an OHV engine it is cheap and easy to do a cam swap.

FYI: It's ZR1 not ZR-1.
arent the LSx engine parts interchangeable ??..

Why not just get a Blower cam ??..

Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"TR Blower" - 214/230 .601/.579 117 LSA. Stock like idle.
Lingenfelter is getting 630 hp / 630 ft Lbs with just the blower, pully and a few other things without going into that...

That is Crank hp, which is like 540whp..
I think this car has a lot of potential, modifying the engine with a Head/Cam package you could be looking at 600-640whp..
Ill be going thru some cams for some tests, but im doing other stuff first. All in a order.... Easy stuff first. :D
this engine is an easy to mod motor...which makes it appealing. All the LSx motors are fairly easy to get apart and wrench on...but the blower can be a boon or bane depending on what youre doing.

Exactly. You got a forced induction, OHV engine, you couldn't ask for an easier to mod motor.
Anyone swapped a cam in one of these?

How much labor is involved and what has to come off?

It could get ridiculous pretty quick, but a heads, cam, pulley car could really put out some big numbers, probably a lot more than the tires could handle.

285 tires already can't handle 550 ft-lbs. Z06's with 505HP come with 335's, and an '03 Viper with 500HP came with 345's and they both could use stickier tires.
besides the tires the zr1 has some other better engine parts; the lifters and heads maybe some others picking up the boost you may fry some internals and then have to replace a lot of stuff.
Swapping a cam isn't going to break some other internals, those internals are built for high RPM and the higher boost.
