my boy friend is buying a 2003 cts from a friend of his... he has ask me to find various parts for the car. but im at a loss without actually seeing the title to know the submodel. he says it has a v6 turbo in it so am I correct in assuming its a luxury sport edition? Also the sunroof doesn't work. the previous owner thought it was a fuse but a new fuse didn't fix it. ive looked around online thinking maybe it is the motor but am having no luck finding it. I myself own a ford and always have so I don't know how Cadillac operates as far as mechanical anything goes. or what the technical name of parts is. Im at a lossss. Hoping someone can share some Cadillac wisdom with me. thanks to anyone who will take time to help me figure it all out

There were no Cadillac CTS engines with turbo for 2003.
I've heard of owners going with the LP9(2.8L turbo) motor after the LP1(2.8L) or LA3(3.2L) motor crapped out.
not sure if was done but heard it may be an option.....
Unless they put aftermarket turbo on it , thats running about $6 - 10K....

You'll need to get the VIN and take a look at the engine.... to be safe

Just like Noel said, there were no 2003 to 2007 engines with a turbo or super charger in the CTS. 03 only had the opel 3.2, 04 the 3.6 was introduces along with the 3.2. Then in 05, the 3.2 was dropped and 2.8 introduced.

An old member actually tried to put a 3.6 into his 2003 3.2. He didn't succeed because there were too many parts to buy. And they were very hard to come by back in 2009ish while the shit hit the fan for GM.

As the others have already said, there was no V6 turbo in the 1st gen CTS (or the 2nd gen for that matter). So it's either got an engine swap, a custom turbo setup (since no company has made a kit), or your boyfriend and his friend are misinformed. The only engine available in 2003 was the 3.2L V-6, and it should be pretty easy to pop the hood and figure out if there's some turbo craziness going on.

Also the sunroof doesn't work. the previous owner thought it was a fuse but a new fuse didn't fix it. ive looked around online thinking maybe it is the motor but am having no luck finding it.
Try here - http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAsse...del=14463&modelYear=2003&searchString=sunroof. Looks like there are a couple of different motors depending on the VIN, so you'll have to figure that out, and they're not cheap.

Both GM and FoMoCo make cars, there's nothing weird or special or different about the way either company does it. They mechanically operate the same.

^^^ Good point, I meant to comment on that. Cadillacs are no different than Fords - troubleshoot the problem before throwing parts at the car. Was the fuse that was replaced blown? Why was it blown? Did the new fuse blow, too? Pull the overhead console down and check for power at the switch, then check for power coming out of the switch.
