I went to the dealership to pick my car up yesterday...they changed out a joint washer piece in my drivetrain, but didnt check out the other problems so I had to reschedule :( Anyway, I went and talked about the V exhaust to them. I was in the parts department and they said that you cant but a Cts V exhaust on a 3.2L V6, because its meant for a V8..is this true?? I thought I read some forums where people did but I could be wrong. Anyone know if these guys are dickin me when they say that or are they just dumb???

Here is the problem, the exhaust pipes are 2.5" wide, which is a little big for the 3.2L engine. It would be fine for the 3.6L, as several members on this forum have the upgrade. But putting the CTS-V exhaust system on your car probably isn't a good idea due to the lack of back pressure and all the technical mumbo jumbo.

If you want to upgrade your exhaust system, go with Borla, Corsa, B&B, or Magnaflow. Probably going to cost more, but they are designed to work with the 3.2L.
It can be done to the 3.2L but it's best used on the 3.6L. You'll gain some top end HP on the 3.2L with the V-exhaust (not much though, think 2 or 3 hp) but may end up losing low end torque. As Cadiman mentioned go after market, which will probably come with a 2 or 2.25" pipe for your 3.2L, that'll be a much better fit. Or do a hybrid V-exhaust. Get the pipes off a 3.6L (which I believe are 2.25") and add the V-mufflers. Or u can custom fab some 2 or 2.25" pipes and use the v-mufflers or universal aftermarket mufflers from Corsa, Borla, BB or Magnaflow.

I wanted borla soooo bad...but the guys at the cadillac dealership said it would void my warranty. He said the 2 listed below would keep me under manufacturer's warranty still. So I guess I have to go with one of these??? I didnt ask him about magnaflow....I actually didnt look into magnaflow AT ALL!! I should probably go do that! Damn why does everything need to be so EXPENSIVE!!! So i guess there goes the idea of me getting the V exhaust for A LOT cheaper :banghead:

Corsa = $969
B&B = $1079
Well mangaflow doesnt make an exhaust kit for the 3.2L, so all u can do is get their universal mufflers and have someone custom fab some pipes for them. The cheapest way to go about it would be to again find a used 3.6L exhaust and V-mufflers. Then cut off the 3.6L mufflers and attach the V-mufflers to the 3.6L pipes. That way everything is still stock (even though in hybrid form), u get the proper pipe size for the best flow and the v-mufflers for the added sound.

Do you think that will void the warranty or no?
I honestly dont know but seeing how everything is done using OEM parts I'd hope not.. Dealerships can be @ssholes so who knows. If its done nicely the stealership may not even notice.
Just find a member that is upgrading to the V exhaust and add the 3.6 duals.....
as far as warranty goes, you have to ask yourself whether a mechianical failure is really going to happen within he factory warranty period. In my ownership of 2 cadillacs, the warranty I basically used to cover interior pieces not working, or trim that was coming apart. It was never a mechanical issue except once (crankshaft posiition sensor on DTS) and for that they didnt even need to look at the exhaust. I mean how often is the dealer going to examine your exhaust? Just dont tel them about the mod.

And guys help me out here...isnt there some rule that says only the part replaced or damage caused because of the replaced part cannot be warrantied??? If i change my exhaust, they cant refuse to replace my radio for a chipped button right?
I believe u are correct but dealerships can be slick. I just wouldnt say anything about any mod to the dealer. None of their business anyway.
I believe the Corsa exhaust system is on sale at gmpartsdirect.com. My dealer tried to sale it to me for $1515 installed. I think it was about $640 or so at gm's site.
The dealer is very correct. The V exhaust is designed for a 400HP 5.7 liter Corvette engine. They are correct. It wasn't designed for your car.
