So I am debating between a few different choices on my 2014 2.0T performance. Money is not really my main concern, just money for fun/performance gained. The main question I have is tuning the transmission worth it on the auto 6? Here is what i am debating right now, any input or experience would be great:

1) $1098 - ZZP downpipe and trifecta tune - top choice because of Power gains & better transmission shifting w/options to re-cal in future
2) $999 - ZZP stage one kit, unsure if it is worth the money if the transmission is not tuned as well. The CAI does not add power and looks like i have a
high chance of throwing codes anyways
3) $549 - Trifecta Advantage tune. Transmission and engine tune w/no mods no re-cal
4) $399 - Engine tune without transmission tune w/no mods no re-cal

I am fine with spending whatever, but I just don't want to spend alot on a trifecta tune if the transmission portion is not worth it. I am just trying to keep myself happy for the next year until I trade in for a used CTS V-Sport.

What are your thoughts? is the stock 6 speed auto on the ATS worth spending a premium to tune?

The biggest performance per dollar is a catless downpipe plus a tune. Air intake doesn't really do much but since it it is part of ZZP's stage 1 kit I would get it and their tune. If I were doing a mail order tune, I'd probably go with the tune from the same company supplying my hardware as their tune should have been developed using that hardware.

A transmission tune isn't going to lop much, if any, time off your 1/4 mile time. It will be more aggressive, which can be fun when just messing around. After a while, you may or may not like how it shifts after its tuned when you are just noodling around town. I do my own tune and I tweaked the full throttle and part throttle shift points to my liking. Took me a while to decide exactly where I wanted the part throttle shifts.

So I guess I should have clarified that I am just looking to make the car more fun. Sounds like from your response a lot can be had from the transmission tune. Besides real gain from the engine tune, I want the car to feel more aggressive. I am going to go option one. Thanks for the response.

Go with zzperformance their a reputable company and make quality parts. I am very satisfied with my ats 2.0. Trans can handle a lot. I am putting down 410hp rear wheel and their room for another 50 - 75 hp. You tube David’s Ats. Any questions I be happy to help. Good luck. ?
