Well, I had some time off last week (and this week, but that's another story), and was tired of not having any bass since blowing my 10" a couple months ago, so I decided to go out and hit a few stereo shops and try out a few different boxes in my car. After trying about a dozen different sizes and styles (single & dual 10's & 12's, sealed, ported, bandpass) I settled on a pair of 12's in a ported enclosure that had one huge shared port in the center. I had never seen this design before, but the shop said it was desigend as an SPL (Sound Pressure Level) box for competitions. And it totally SLAMMED in my car. The only thing that actually seemed to make it into the cabin... And did it ever!

So I took some measurements from their display box and decided to build one on my own. Their box had 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs (mid level RF's, not sure the name) and they were on clearance for 80 bucks each. I was going to go with those, but then I stumbled upon a KILLER deal at Shortcut City (Circuit City). They had some entry level Polk Audio 12's that just went on clearance that day. They were both BRAND NEW in sealed packaging. They were said to work well in a ported box, AND they were the same color as my car! BONUS! Here's the killer though... Got them both for $44 TOTAL! 44 bucks out the door!!! YES! And with the cost of the box building materials (3/4" MDF, carpet, screws, liquid nails & grilles), I'm in this for less than 80 bucks!!! They were both 4ohm speakers, so I wired them in parallel to get a 2ohm load to my amp. So I'm pushing conservatively 500W to these puppies. YEEE-HAAA!!!!

*what?*

So here are some pics before and after carpeting. Sorry, I didn't take any during assembly or during carpeting. D'oh!

This box FRIGGIN SLAMS!!!! AND I still have my spare AND plenty of trunk space!!!! And it only added about 75 pounds, I think... :) It'll help my winter traction, right?

YEEEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

*what?*

What amp are you using?
USAcoustics USX-2150. I called them on the phone and they assured me it was 2ohm stable and it would easily put out 500W into that load. :) And after hearing it... I believe them! :D

Huh this doesn't say it's bridgable at 2 ohm. Well if it works it works.

Their USX 1000 D model looks perfect for running 2 dual voice coil volfenhag 15s.. maybe I should start looking.

Yeah, that's why I said I called them on the phone to make sure it'd be ok before I did it. I spoke to their tech support and the assured me it'd be fine. :) They are great amps for the price. I'd buy another one!

I did read that you called, I was just a bit surprised that their website didn't list it as stable at 2ohm bridged. Usually most companies would advertise that.
