Well, Now it's snow time around most of the country.
I've never used chains or cables on my Esclade.
I was always told that since my Lade is AWD that I wouldn't need them.
However I asked a Trooper and he said even with AWD that chains/cables might be needed in some parts as the snow is really bad.

Can anyone with experience in this area chime in?
I'd really appreciate the help as would other members of this board.

I've checked out the website that deal with the z-chains..
Most recommend two sets both for the front and rear wheels.
Anyone ever hear of such thing?

Thanks

I live in Michigan with Goodyear Fortera SilentArmor tires on my Escalade ESV and I have been through about 6 inches of snow with them, they seem to grip great. I haven't used chains or anything yet!

I bought 4 goodyear snow and then had all 4 studded!
they usually recomend 4 snow tires on your vehicle whether or not it's awd
my area dealers and most garages won't mount 2 snows on a car they say you need 4.
to get to the point it would make sense to have all the drive tires with chains better traction and handling. I can attest to that!

Just get good tires like Bridgestone Revo's, I have had my truck in 3 foot deep snow many times, in fact the snow was so deep that I had to get out several times to clear the radiator out from packing snow that was being pushed up over the hood, you need good tires and you will be fine. :)
