So I haven't liked my shifter since I bought the car. It was always sloppy. It had a UUC shifter and UUC shift knob. I did have the stock one, so I sent it out to be modified. A couple of months ago, I HAD to install it. The UUC shifter broke in half! I baby this car. I have other stuff to "beat on" if I ever felt the need. I was at the end of my driveway, went to put it in first and had no gears. There was no snap, no indication that anything happened. It just came out in my hand.

So I replaced it with the modified stocker. I replaced the bushings with new UUC. And I still have a sloppy shifter. What else do I need to replace? Is there something inside the tranny thats bad? The car just turned 30k and from what I can tell, it wasn't abused.

This is with the car in 4th.

Which modified stock one do you have? If its one of mine then I replaced the bushings in the base with ones that fit tighter. If not, I sell replacement ones. The rest of the slop is at the trans end linkage.

Yes, its yours. I have no doubt the back end is tight. Is there a bushing in the front that can be changed? Is it inside the tranny?

Way back when -- I think it was the summer of '05 or '06, there was a flurry of UUC shifters breaking off in guys' hands ... while they were driving, no less. It was attributed to a "bad batch" as UUC scrambled to do right by everyone ... which they did.

I still like to bring it up even after all this time. :lildevil:

Thats probably about the time this was installed. The previous owners didn't put many miles on the car. Maybe I should contact them.
