Hello to all fellow Caddy owners. My name is Matt and I'm from sometimes sunny Southern California in a small city called Yucaipa..There's a few of us classic Caddy owners out here...I just traded my 1977 Cadillac S&S Victoria Hearse project for a 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille project..I found this board by accident while looking for '72 Coupe DeVille parts..Seems like a good place to start...So I'll post the pics of my project "Coupe DeVil" on here and a pic of what i traded to get her..I'll be on a lot asking for advice and help..So here we go..
Here's what I had..

Here's what I have now...

By the way,any of you from So.Cal,particularly in the Inland Empire??

Hey, Matt! Welcome to the Forums!!! Looks like you've got a bit of work cut out for yourself. I know Yucaipa well, having gone to UCR. Now you're about 2 hours and a couple counties away from me. Keep us all posted on your progress with the 72.

good luck on that coupe resto.
Hi Matt,

Good luck with that car. I had one back in 1980 and might look for another some day. Those cars have character.
So far I've dropped in a new battery, new alternator, and new alternator harness plug..Need to find a welder who will doe some roof work for me as a favor..Also looking for a good 4 barrel carb,a neutral safety switch, and a light switch..Also,does anyone here have a diagram for the wireing for a '72 CDV???Preferrably of the front and back of the fuse box??I have a mysterious green wire with a clip on the end that plugs in to something, but I have no idea what..And thanks for the welcomes..
Anyone know where I can pick up a neutral safety switch and where it's located on my CDV??
Welcome and congrats on the purchase! She's a beast, '72 was my favorite year for the 71-73 bodystyle.
73 was my favorite because of the wider parking lights...but the 72 starred in License to Drive.
Here's an update..Took it to a friend who works at a mechanic shop...They hooked it up on doing the timing and diagnosed the problem with the carbs..Turns out 2 wires were crossed on the plugs so only 6 cylinders were running right..They corrected the problem and now she's firing on all 8 cylinders..They also adjusted the throttle response, now I need to have the re adjust the air/fuel mixture and the high and low idles..But she can light them up now and outrun any ricer..
