The glossy panels between the side windows, & behind the rear seat side windows, are all "peeling" off their coating & look bad... not to mention looking much older than they are. My first post here... Is this a known, common issue? Very disappointing. 2017 base model. Thx! 🙏 Otherwise love the car & engine!

Did you buy it New, or Used? If used, I suspect it was repainted, and that is what is coming off, as the proper Primer for Plastics wasn't applied there. But that is my Opinion, I might be wrong.

Never love a Car, it won't love you back, in fact it will be worse than a dumped Mistress

There’s nothing wrong with loving your car, just don’t give it a girls name because that’s not the kind of love you should have for it + giving it a girl name is just plain dumb. Lol.

As far as OP, if I were you I’d just buy some new replacement pillars that stick on top of those existing ones. I’ve bought some like these for a couple of cars and they’re actually pretty good. They key is in the installation, gotta make sure to be exact because you only get 1 shot with the adhesive.

I found this insane deal for you. At this price it’s a no brainer as the rest are priced at $40+ and ship from China. This is a USA seller. I have nothing to gain but had to pass this along. This would legit solve your problem.

ElDorado2K where have you been all my life?!? Thx a ton! 🙏 This'll be a bit tricky trying to get them under the window visors i added 😑, which can be seen in pics

/\ /\ /\ This!

The peeling on the trim has been mentioned by a number of members. There was probably a batch of defective ones made (since others are not reporting this).
Solutions to your problem; if you have warranty...it will be covered, get the Dealer you bought the vehicle from to replace them, or do it yourself via the product in the above post by ELDORADO2K. If you are into chrome, those are offered as well.
Best of luck! No one should have to put up with trim doing that.

My 2018 is doing exactly the same thing on the driver side of the car. A detail guy told me the parts just pop off using a plastic spudger. I haven't taken the time to look for the part number yet.

Hey @Cartier - no worries, there - no need to 'search' for the part numbers. @ELDORADO2K has done all the work for us, at a significant cost savings, too! Take a look at his post (above, post #3). This should solve the problem!!
There looks to be a significant difference in the two solutions. The eBay pieces are stick on covers for the pillars that are far different than the GM parts @Cartier was referencing. If it was my vehicle, I would opt for the genuine parts as recommended by the detail guy.

I think the single piece price is for one set of six. I looked at a different set of those on ebay as our XT5 was out of warranty, but the dealer was nice enough to replace the last two for free, anyway. (We'd had the first four replaced while still under bumper to bumper warranty.)

Unfortunately this happened (attached) so I haven't had time to install the panel covers. A mere 6 wks or so into ownership & a dumb*ss 21 yr kid tried to go THROUGH me to try & beat the red light in his big fat Chevy 1500 work truck 😠 😫 😡
Oh @KyleXT5 - I am so saddened to see this damage and, to hear the narrative!!
I'm hoping you weren't injured when you got rear ended...

I ordered the replacement adhesive panels that go over the original. I never installed them because my XT5 was rear ended and totaled shortly after, and when I replaced it with another XT5, I added window louvers/rain guards, so can't install them on this one either. Would you like to buy them off of me?

Thanks, @KyleXT5 - I appreciate you sharing the photos! The car looks sharp!!
I have looked and tried using (without success), the 'in channel' window vent shades. I see you are using the exterior style which uses (I think) 2-sided tape.
Do you like them? Do they make much noise during highway driving with the windows closed? With the window(s) partially open? How do they stand up in automatic car washes?
Are you able to share the ordering information with us here?

Btw I also ordered these for my first one that got wrecked/rear ended. These were kind of cool because they had an extra little piece for the rear seat mini-window (just behind the main window). So it's a six piece set instead of a four piece set, and they looked sharp for almost half the price as my current set! I recommend the faux-chrome-trimmed ones..

Thanks so much, @KyleXT5 - I'm glad I asked and, that you were able to clarify.
I've got the right ad now, from Amazon, at $56.99 - and, with the 6-pieces you described! I see they come in black (see thru), with the faux chrome trim you described, or entirely chrome (not what I'm looking for). Talking with you has been a big help.

All Cadillac owners need to contact GM Corporate HQ to complain. It appears to me that this is a known issue yet talking to GM HQ all I get was there is no recall or special warranty on this issue. Maybe all of us owners should start to post on our local dealership website and contact corporate so they can address this known issue even though they state not "a known issue". So insane!
