Hi

From few days I noticed this issue.
When shift to R mirror tilting down but when I switch back to D it does not returns to saved position or returns to randomized position (pointing to sky).
Sometimes works fine sometimes not.
Manual adjustment still works perfectly.

What do you think. Is it easy to fix or rather not?

Regards,

Try this, Run it "ALL" the way DOWN, then "ALL" the way up,
You can also run it, all the way to the left, and right.
set it to the position you want.
then press driver 1 or driver 2, to SAVE the setting
This usually works for me.
Also, it may give you an idea, as to why, it was doing , what it was doing.

That what I did.
It was short term fix.

But I will try again in full range multiple times ...
I think it will help :)

But what if not ?

There are two position sensors (variable resistors) built into the adjuster housing, one for vertical position and one for horizontal. My bet is that the vertical sensor is dirty and not always being sensed. Depending on your skill level, you may be able to disassemble the adjuster for some basic maintenance.

Mine has a similar issue. I does not want to go to the exact position I want it to go to. If I set it there it will go too high. If I set it a touch lower than optimum it goes too low. I have also noticed that there is some play in the movement when transitioning from up to down or down to up. I can hear the motor spin for a second then it will begin to move.

I'll try Subsailor's exercise and see if that helps.

My '11 was doing the same (or similar); after repeated resetting of the mirror (passenger side) it just wouldn't hold my 'preset' (it would manually adjust and hold until an a lock and unlock of the vehicle). I took it in for an oil change and mentioned my mirror problem (still warranted) and it was fixed by re-programing (but they didn't say what exactly was reprogrammed). It has been working for some weeks now.

My mirror was doing crazy things also. I went through the full range of motion and then set and saved the position in personalizations and I haven't had any problems since. It tilits down in reverse when selected and returns to normal when unselected or with the shift out of revese.

Same happened to me. Dealer replaced the entire side view mirror under warranty. Had I paid it would be a little over 500 bucks with painting the new unit and all.
This can also be done as a DIY project. The painted portion of the housing can be transferred between assemblies fairly easily.

I just did it exactly this way, full range in all four directions and then immediately put it to the position I wanted and saved it and it seems to be holding! I haven't tried the auto tilt yet to see if it comes back to the saved position yet but that's next. Thanks for everyone's input.

I never knew that leaving the switch on one side tilts the mirrors down, I hate that feature, I got it back from the dealership it was doing and I didn't know why until I read the manual on it.

Mine does it too and it seems to be worse in wet weather. My whole memory system is wacky, my steering column always returns itself lower than I originally set it......

Mine back to work after I done what forum mates suggested.

Move your mirror in all range up->down->left->right (from end to end) multiple times 4-5 times.
I also turn on defroster for 15-20 minutes and all works as expected yeayy!!
