Ok so I have an 05 Deville base model with 83k miles 2nd owner and I'm bringing her back to life...so I went and had suspension looked at and the bushings with the control arms are fully shot and the air shocks need replacing so what I am wondering is there a special place you all go to for your parts or do you just go with cheapest or middle of the road best deals...???...there are many of you that are very seasoned and knowledgable and that is an excellent database for us noobs to be able to access and I thank you all for that privilege as well as thank you all for your inputs...I am wanting to do the right thing for this car as it is a Memorial to my Mom so it can pass to my son as well...馃榿馃...Thank you

WHAT you buy is much more important than WHERE you get it from -

I use rockauto.com to get part numbers - VERY easy to use catalog -
sometimes they have the best price - sometimes not - they DO charge for shipping -

amazon.com -
also look at amazon "used" parts - they are usually brand new parts in beat-up boxes -

ebay -

walmart - YES - you can order auto parts and pick them up at the local store -

Farm&Fleet - they also charge for shipping -

NEVER the dealer -

almost never - the local auto parts store -
=====================

SOME things should only be replaced with genuine ACDelco parts -
two VERY common items that come to mind immediately -
spark plugs and oil pressure switch -

some OEM parts are discontinued and the "dealer replacement" parts are JUNK -
a prime example would be rear shocks -
the dealer replacement is actually Gabriel hijackers with an ACDelco sticker -
these require modifying the air line at the shock - AND - replacing the pressure spring in the compressor -

a MUCH better choice is the Monroe MA822 -
ebay has them for $65 - for the pair - with free shipping -
amazon usually has the best price - under $60 - but they are $68 now - they DO have a "used" set for $45 -
rockauto.com has them for $71 - including shipping -

for front struts - I also recommend Monroe over anything else -

for control arm bushings -
I recommend replacing the entire control arm - BONUS - includes a new ball joint -
MOOG is quite a bit cheaper than ACDelco - and every bit as good -

if you ever have a question about specific parts - just ask - that's WHY we are here -

83k miles and the bushings and shocks are shot? I hope your shop isn't taking you for a ride. Times are tough and everybody is trying to maximize profits. Even dentists are doing work that is unnecessary.

If the description says FE1 or FE3 those are the ones you want.

heavy duty would be for commercial chassis - 6-lug wheels -

here are the control arms I recommend for your car -
front - left - MOOG RK620291
front - right - MOOG RK620292

It has to be true, I read it on the internet. I'm sure this was before the pandemic. I have seen greed all my life and I trust no one.
