My Escalade shock absorbers (2 of them) need to be replaced, advised to replace all of them cost around $2K. Are there any better alternatives shock absorbers, or just stick with GM parts?

I was able to get pair of brand new OEM GM shocks on ebay for $500 shipped. They were sold to me by guy that had several pairs of them. He had limousine business and was clearing out, they are 100% OEM and came in original GM boxes, never opened. Keep an eye on ebay and dont be afraid to make low ball offer, He wanted $750 and accepted and sold it for $500. I did work my self and it takes about 2 hrs to do both sides if you know what you are doing

Stick OEM! How many miles on your truck? What is exactly wrong with the rears. If you hear the rear pump run all the time than it is just the hose which is $50. I made the mistake of changing the rears for nothing. The fronts don’t need the springs, just the strut, unless rusted or been cut. I would change out the bump stoppers & upper/lower insulators as well. It’s will cost you less that $120 for those parts. Order the struts and shocks online than take it to a mechanic. Look up the torque specs and give it to the mechanic.

The $600 to $1,200 per corner for the dealer to replace hydrodynamic / Magneride struts is typical. They’re there to run a highline business and they attract folks willing to pay for a perceived value when charging premium prices.

For the 15-2020 Escalade, GM is still holding their grips on struts specialty made for the Cadillac, even from generic part suppliers.

Little is known that the technology has in the strut is unchanged after their introduction around 2003 and when GM gave Cadillac their own name and part numbers for autoride / Magneride. The control modules HAVE evolved though.

The little known secret is the z95 struts can be replaced made new, in house, superior replacements from Arnott that have a lifetime warranty. The copyrights have expired on he technology GM introduced in the strut so others have improved and evolved its design without being encumbered by the gouge factor.

2016 Arnott replacement available from Summit. Lifetime warranty to original owner and freedom from the dealership syndrome.

I just installed Dorman Products 949-700 replacement front Magneride struts on my 2015 ESV. So far they seem good and come with a lifetime warranty. Sport and touring modes work and zero warning messages.

Update.. I have driven about 500 miles since I installed the Dorman struts and they are working perfectly. We will see how long they last and if the lifetime warranty will be needed. When the rear shocks go bad I will use Dorman again.

I own an automotive repair shop and use aftermarket stuff all the time and have very few issues. A lot of aftermarket parts also come with a lifetime warranty which my customers like. The only thing I've second guessed is buying the ESV in the first place. Shocks that fail at 75k. CUE screen fail. Rear hatch latch fail. Rear seats that rattle. What will be next?
