ok will do, I will talk to the dealership about it, in fact bring it straight to the service center, not to the salesperson. But I will try to reprogram it first. Reprogramming instructions is in the manual right?slk230mb said:If the dealership put the wheels on it, make them take a look at it. You may have a bad TPS or they just need to be reprogrammed.
When I bought my ESV brand new, the rims were already installed and I had the option to buy it or not, of course I took the rims. But obviously they didnt tell me the tire sensors were not installed, all they told me was "thats how it is when you have big rims". But I do remember when I test drove it the first time and when I drove it home and to work, the "Service Tire Monitor" didnt come on at all. So with that in mind, Im thinking they didnt reprogram it or wasnt installed right. I know its not a big deal but I just hate seeing that message every time I turn on my car.:rant2:04SilverEXT said:I have 24" dub bellagios on my truck, the service tire monitor comes on everytime i start the truck but it doesnt affect the truck at all...its because I didnt feel it was nescesary to reinstall the TPS into the new rims...not worth the time or money...if you hit the gas light or odometer it goes off until you turn the truck off...
ahhh thats the same thing the guy told me when I had my ESV dropped today. He noticed the Service Tire Monitor when he drove it into the shop. He told me that the dealership guys are making things up, because usually it is a pain in the ass to have it put in especially if they just bought the rims and had it installed themselves. So suggested to me that I have them put it back on by them or have them give me new tire sensors and have it installed at the shop. He told me those dealership guys who have aftermakrket rims on them dont usually if not at all put the tire sensors on the rims and when the customer comes complaining, they tell them its cost big bucks to put it back on. :annoyed: I already spent big bucks on that car and it seems the dealership still want more.yuse2002 said:It is very important that you have it on the vehicle. The reason why they are telling you this is because they didn't put them on on the after market wheels. Here at our shop we always put the sensors on regardless of the wheels, especially when you have big wheels, it's very important to check your air pressure at least once a week. Not only will it help you on the gas mileage, but it will also prevent accidents and premature tire wear. Some dealers don't have the qualified personell(believe it or not) and this is when they start making up things. Trust me, we do a lot of wheels and tires for them because they don't like messing with this part of the business. My advice, take the lade back to them and have them install them on the wheels.
