Hi Guys - After putting my 02 Deville into 'park' 2 days ago, the dash rang and the "Service Theft System" light popped-up. The dash lights-up (mostly), but the car wont crank. The headlights wouldn't shut off at all (and drained the battery), the horn wont honk with arming or disarming, but it works on its own, there's no line showing which gear the shifter is in, yadda yadda. I've had (in the past), the "service air bag" and "service traction" lights come on, and when they have, the numeral value that shows the level of gas (but not the gauge itself) and a few other numbers on the dash have changed to dashes, but when that's happened, its gone away after the car has sat for a few minutes in the 'off' position. My mechanic says, according to him, that its not the ignition cylinder causing this. Has anyone had this issue and.or can anyone shed some light on this...PLEASE???

Thanks

It sounds like you have an electrical issue. Probably not really a theft system fault.
In what condition was your battery? I know low voltage can cause all kinds of odd behavior.

I do know that the battery was on its way out, but its been starting without any issues (no boosting needed). I had just parked the car though when all of this began, which I'd assume means that the battery would have had at-least some power. I agree that its an electrical issue, but I've read of others complaining of the identical symptoms (headlights on, alarm not chirping, car wont start). That's why I'm leaning towards it being something specific that 's failing (a part) rather than just a random short.
