My STS 2001 is frequently giving Service stability System with some sound (Chime). The codes were as follows:

1. RSS 0657 - Suspension senor Current
2. ABS C1287 History
3. ABS C1288 History

I believe the RSS code is relevant and seems some shock or strut sensor is giving problem. How can I find out which one of the 4 shock sensors is giving problem. Is there any way to pull this dara? Any advice please.

Thanks
John

All strut/shock actuator and suspension height sensor codes are position specific. The definition above is incorrect.

:hmm: RSS is an OBDI code. How could you get that on an '01?

Actually, the code triggering the message is C1287 - steering position sensor malfunction.

The STS 2001 is giving both RSS 0657 Current and C1287 history code. The RSS 0657 seems some shock sensor issue whereas C1287 is for steering sensor issue. Could this be some steering alignment issue. Should I take my car to some alignment shop?

Thanks
John

No. C1287 is a Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction. The sensor (#52) is on the column and the column must be disassembled to replace it. Ignoring it will disable stabilitrack, but living in Chicago you probably never have it engage anyway.

I would've bet that someone in Chicago uses stablitrak all the time. Lol
