Seeking Most Common Issues with 2018 and Newer Escalades

I am considering getting a low mileage 2018 or 2019 Escalade ESV platinum. I will be getting rid of my 2008 Escalade ESV. Obviously every vehicle has issues, some model years more than most. My experience with my 2008 unfortunately has proven to be the worst quality GM vehicle I have ever owned. I am the original owner from new. However, most of the issues were solved under the original Factory and extended GM factory warranties I had on the vehicle. So before I plunk down +$70K on the next vehicle I want to understand what are the 10+ most common warranty issues on a 2018 or NEWER Escalade. I am fairly familiar about the persistent issues that plagued the 2015 through 2017 model years, and my perception is that most of those issues were solved by 2018 Model year. I would love to hear from this that have experience with 2018, 2019, 2020 model year issues. Thanks in advance!

I can’t think of any common repairs but there are some of the same occasional repairs that carry over from 15-17.
Occasional oil cooler/trans cooler line leaks, occasional blind zone or adaptive cruise radar failures, occasional CUE screen issues, occasional fuel injector failures...
Actually I just thought of one possibility for common repair and that is front shocks. Similar Magna-ride shock life expectancy as previous Escalades.

'18 ESV Premium with 31k I had the vehicle settings greyed out in CUE when I bought it as a CPO with 9k on it. Obviously fixed under warranty. I also had one of the black plastic trim pillars come a little loose and rattle. Had to have all of them replaced on my previous '15 Yukon. Starting to develop a little shake at high speeds 80+. Pretty sure it's just a tire. About to replace all the crappy Bridgestones anyway. Already sliding around in wet conditions. Had to do that on my Yukon at 40k too.

IMO the '18 is 1000% better than the '15. Very happy with truck and Cadillac service. My dealer always willing to pickup and drop off for oil changes (mine qualifies for free 3/36k basic maintenance). They've even replaced wiper blades and not charged me. Not a huge deal, but good service is hard to come by these days. Actually treated better than Chevy/GMC. I did not get that with owning a Lincoln.

Biggest annoyance is the center stack controls, glossy screen and overly complicated climate controls for rear. Only thing I miss about the Yukon.

Cannot wear polarized sunglasses. Cannot see HUD, NAV or other LEDs. Pretty much all newer cars though.

I have a 2018 luxury model. I recently had issues with my pedals moving all the way forward randomly on its own about one to 2 times a month.
I took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed a seat control module. This was about 2 weeks ago. Still waiting to see if it happens again. I also experienced the traction control turning off and on randomly on start ups. Took that in to the dealership and they said it could have been a software issue. Reprogrammed that as well. The transmission throttle response is slow. When you floor it... it pauses and then goes. Not sure if this is just a thing with GM suvs in general but its kind of annoying. I have seen programmers to address this issue. That's all I've seen so far , driving it for about almost a year.

Your pedal problem and traction control problem sounds like shorted touch switches next to the CUE screen. If the software updates fixed those, great. But if the problem comes back, I’d suspect the switches.

I guess ones slowness is subjective. I’m coming from a Ford Raptor with a Pedal Commander installed and my first reaction was that the Escalade is quite slow to respond from a stop... I’m guessing the throttle curve is programmed this way. I’m seriously thinking about installing a PC in my new Escalade. Has anyone installed one?

To the OP - I recently purchased a 2018 with 14k. I’ve put a couple thousand miles on and no issues so far.

Go to acdelcotds.com. Buy a 3 day service information subscription for $20 and then search the dealer bulletins for your model or VIN. These are all the reported issues in the GM system for your model or VIN. I don’t recommend using the repair info unless you are a professional, but the bulletins will show you all the issues and symptoms.

We were think the same thing! I posted a similar thread. I’m considering trading in my 2016 for an 18.

It’s been almost a month since I took my 2018 Escalade to the dealership and they reprogrammed the control module that controls the seats. I haven’t seen it happen since. Take it to the dealership. This should be covered by the warranty. Just make sure you are using the same key fob every time to verify to the dealer its not a memory seat setting. Good Luck!

I have a 2018 Luxury. A couple of weeks ago I couldn't get it started so Cadillac came and jump started. I thought it was running fine and it felt fine but put my little scanner to check things, sort just to play with it and three codes came upP2535, P0700 and P129D. I took a picture and then took the truck to the dealer. They got the exact same codes on their scan tool. The mechanic said its a bad battery. It's only 2 and half years old so we shall see if it really is just that, I hope it's just that. I've been very happy with it and have had only that issue and a left cv axle boot leaking . Did you buy your truck?

One major unsolved issue that keeps me from upgrading my 2007 is the plastic AFM lifter guides wallowing out, which lets the AFM lifters rotate and wipe out the camshaft. This tends to happen around the 100-120k mile mark. It starts with a ticking sound, and fixing it requires pulling the heads. GM can't help themselves - they keep finding innovative ways to repeat historical issues (I'm old enough to remember the late 1970s soft camshaft issue, which required the very same fix but happened in the first 50k miles when new car warranties were 3mo/3000 miles). Even the 2021 Escalade carries this unresolved risk. For those of us who keep cars forever to extract maximum value from them, it's a deal-breaker.
