Yeah, years ago guys would simply put a spark plug in the tail pipe with a switch to power it. The exhaust on the old non-emission carburated cars of the '50's & '60's was so rich that it was still ignitable. Doubt that it would work on todays computer controlled FI engines.

It wouldn't work on a modern engine, unless it was running real rich! The ones I've seen on modern EFI cars have a fuel line, or use something like propane for the fuel.

Definitely. The hydrocarbons emitted from tailpipes of FI cars is very low, certainly not enough for the "flamer" to create the kind of effect you see on their site. A separate fuel source would be necessary unless, like caddydaddy says, the car is running very rich for some reason. You could plug in one of those IAT resistors to get a similar effect, but that's not a good idea at all. Goodbye catalytic converter and gas mileage.

No, ive seen this on hot rod tv, the switch also deactivates about half of the spark plugs leaving fuel going out the tail pipe and then the spark plug ignites it.

Not sure if they come in "Folgers" size yet.
LOL! That's one of the most ridiculous bling toys I've seen. I love how they try to give it some performance value:

"For a variety of cars with electronic fuel injection engine control, the SPINNER EXHAUST TIP has the beneficial effect to eliminate the initial hesitation of the engine under rapid acceleration. Furthermore, the exhaust gases emanating from the tailpipe will be uniformly dispersed into the atmosphere. In some instances the speed of the vehicle will be sufficient to create a negative presence at the outlet of the exhaust tailpipe to assist in the evacuation of the exhaust gases."

So, not only does it reduce hesitation, but it literally just sucks the exhaust right out of the engine! :histeric: If you ever meet someone who bought one of these things thinking it would reduce engine hesitation under rapid acceleration, do us all a big favor and remove that person from the gene pool post haste.
