I live in Indiana and since this state passed the seatbelt law couple of years ago (because it's obviously the governments job to make sure people don't hurt themselves by being friggin idiots!) we are treated to periodic "Seatbelt Enforcement Checkpoints". Basically a couple of cops stand in the middle of the road and write tickets to anyone not wearing a seatbelt. It never ceases to amaze me that ANYONE gets caught by these! I mean come on, you're driving down the road and you can see red and blue flashing lights from about a mile away. By a quarter-mile out you can see that there is a cop standing in the middle of traffic right next to a 6 foot tall (sometimes its 10ft tall and has flashing lights) orange sign that says "Seatbelt Enforcement Checkpoint". Despite it being so obvious, they ALWAYS have at least 5 or 6 people at a time pulled over and getting tickets. If you have more than 3 functional brain cells and the mental capacity of a rock, you should be able figure out what's going on in plenty of time to get your belt on. In my opinion, anyone who does get caught at one of these should have their license revoked for "being a dumba** and a danger to society".

But that's my opinion, it's probably way too logical to ever catch on.

I think it's also worth mentioning that this was occuring at a four-way stop. Despite all the flashing lights to get people's attention, there were accidents in two of the 4 directions from which traffic was approaching, requiring the presence of even more police officers.

Damn some people is idiots!!!

it ahs been illegal in the UK to drive without seatbelts for some time now, and it is also the drivers responsibility to ensure that their passengers wear seatbelts too.

Seatbelts save lives, if youre too stupid to wear one.......

Clunk-click, every trip

they have been running that "click it or ticket" deal in tn for the past 6 years. we have more dui check points than do seatbelt ones. i never drink and always have my seatbelt on so i dont have to worry about it. but i have been through some and see people getting tickets and was just like, the hell man there is a sign a mile down the road that says "seatbelt checkpoint" are they that damn stupid not to see it. they should just leave their seatbelt off so next time they are in an accident, its one less idiot to worry about.

Drink driving is something i feel strongely about too. I will not drive if i have had a single drop of alcohol, my wife and son are the same.

They launched this service in London where people can call a company which sends a guy on a collapsable motorbike to drive you home in your OWN car, its genious, you get home safe, and dont need to worry abotu colletion of your car!

Speaking of which my wifes Deville is still at our friends' house, we havent collected it from Sunday morning, shes been driving the BMW to work all week.

We were a little drunk, and over the limit when we woke up on the Sunday morning so we left it, and havent had a chance to collect it.

Should do that soon really.

Huh...that's ingenious...the whole sending someone on a collapsible bike to drive your own car home. Do they charge for it, I'm sure its like a Taxi, but yea, that's friggin brilliant!

it costs about the same or maybe a little more than a taxi, but it sure helps, because you dont have to try and remember where you left the car, many times my son and i have driven around the pubs in the area where i live trying to find my car that he left in a car park there the night before.

Yeah, I know about that one. All we need now are laws that would make using a handheld cell phone while driving a crime. I hate people who drive SUVs and try to talk on their phone. Them swerving like that is dangerous and scary. They should get the handless adapters or use speakerphone...
