Does anyone know how to turn off the seatbelt alert?
Every 5 minutes or so, my car tells me to put my seatbelt on.
My 04 never did this and my 05 keeps bitching at me about it.
I looked all through the customizations on the DIC and couldn't see anything about seatbelts.

And before I start hearing about it, I know I should be wearing my seatbelt.

As an emergency personnal that has to deal with all the carnaige on the highways I could send you a really good (and graphic) video of people being ejected from their vehicles. I even have one of where the driver and his child in the back seat get thrown out from a CTS. I'm sorry but when you deal with broken dead bodies on a regular basis and know they could have been prevented (by being buckled in) it is hard for me not to comment when someone does not wear a seat belt. Ok that's my rant for the day.

OK, I dig what your saying.
As I said, I know I should be wearing my seatbelt, but that is my decision not to.
Thanks for the mini lecture.
Not to get into a whole big debate, but, why does the law say I have to wear my seatbelt while surrounded by 2 tons of steel, while bikers don't have to wear a helmet while they are surrounded by nothing (Il law)
Like I said, it is my decision to wear a seatbelt or not to.

Fuse or wire running to the buckle. You can try cutting it.

Because this is a safety feature I'm going to say I do not recomend you try this, there is a possibility of airbag deployment if that wire is cut, I do not know.
I too say wear your seatbelt, but you are a grown up so it is ltimatelly your choice.
Personally I won't drive without 1, and I have personally been injured in a accident..to what extent the seatbelt helped or made things worse, its hard to say. But part of my injuries is caused becausae a 3 point harness (ours) twists your body as you slam forward, but in turn it holds you in. I had a bruse from the seatbelt for a while.

I also have wondered why it is not law here in MN for motorcyclists to wear a helmet but yet it is law for all passengers in a vehicle to be wearing a seat belt. I definitely wear mine, if not for safety, then to avoid the $125 ticket and hassle of being pulled over. I used to not wear it but a good friend of mine was killed in a car accident 2 years ago. If he would've been wearing his seat belt there is a good chance he would still be with us today.....just my .02

I'm from Connecticut, and the area where Pappy's Run is done every year in his honor. So I know exactly how the state of Connecticut doesn't have a helmet law. Why though? Probably because there's a specail motorcycle license that is need to ride a bike. And for the most part, you by nature tend to be safer when on a bike. Yes there are crashes that involved bikers that are they're fault. But that's because of them being idiots and gunning the dang thing.

I know of two kinds of bikers.
There is the kind that rides a bike safely and responsibly, usually older, riding a cruiser.
And there is the younger rider on the crotch rocket riding for the rush of speed and danger.
around me, a mojority of riders are of the latter.
In high school, I worked at a small hospital for handicapped children on the south side of chicago. I witnessed a motorcycle accident so bad it made me vomit (literally). Two guys were racing down 47th street and a semi was coming out of a dock and they both swerved to miss it. one guy leaned into it too much and dumped. he slid over a city block and the friction ate up the entire side of his body. he stopped sliding about 100 yards from my hospital so we all went out there and this guys internal organs were bubbling from the friction of grinding on the cement. I know, a helmet would have done him no good, but still. I've seen bad accidents, both car and bike. I, personally, feel safer in a car with no seatbelt on, than on a bike with a helmet on.
I didin't want to get into a helmet law debate, and I don't need a lecture.
I just wanted to know how to stop my car from yelling at me about my seatbelt.
Thanks for the input from some and the concern for my safety from others.

Some cars have a work-around for the buzzer. I also have a new Edge and there was a proceedure to turn the key on and connecet and disconeect the belt 9 times and the alert system will turn off. Maybe the Cadi has something similar.

buy a buckle on ebay and just leave in the push button housing. or since our seatbelt retract into the seat and not the B-pillar, you could likely just leave the seatbelt done up at all times across the seat and sit on top of it, you'll likely never notice/feel it is there.

I saw a guy who took an old credit card and cut it out like a Seat belt buckle and placed in the clip. Problem solved.
this is probably the simplest idea, however the thing i dont like about it (besides not having the seatbelt on of course) is if there was a incident where you decided you had to buckle up quickly you would have to pop out the credit card then buckle up... its 1 more step.

maybe try to figure out how this system receives its signal.
is it by the connection being completed when buckled up or by the connection being disconnected?
start with unplugging the wire to the buckle, if the warning doesnt come on then problem solved.

I had a heart specialist who told me if you ask the right question you will get your answer. Will your insurance pay if you get into an accident knowing you were not wearing a seatbelt? Insurance companies look for loop holes not to pay out.
