Does the seat make a click sound every 30s or so when the heated seat is turned on? If so it is likely a bad heating element in the seat, I believe there is a DIY somewhere on here for that fix.

As far as the gear selector light goes I believe that bezel is just held on by a few clips, get a small, thin trim removal tool near the rear end (cup holder side) of it and it should pop right up. I only had to take that up once to re-attach my TC button when the audio shop forgot to after installing my Alpine HU so I apologize if that info is incorrect, another member should chime in with more input.

you don't even have to stick anyting there to pry it up
just take your finges and pull up from the senter where the gear shifter is i pull up from there all the time when i need to get it out for some reason quick fast and never have a issue

The shift bezel wood grain is stapled down to plastic, to just grab and pull up is a bit foolish. Using a flathead screw driver to pop the clips carefully is a more sensible approach. Just wedge it carefully between the leather siding at the bezel making sure to get below the plastic where the woodgrain is stapled to.

This is a hard to find piece you dont want to damage it

FWIW, the wood veneer is glued to the plastic, not stapled.

The chrome bezel that TP is referring to is attached to the plastic, not the veneer. Pulling on the rear edge of it won't pull the veneer away from the plastic. Usually, doing as TP described, pops the panel up easily. If, when pulling it, the panel began to flex, that would be an indication to stop.

yup you have a Eldo i don't think they ever would have changed the way the panel is in them up untill they dropped it in 02

the seville in 98-04 is a easy remove unless you already have the pry tills or want to take a small screw driver and possibly leave an indent in the leather or the wood
to pull it up always seems easiest to myself

even an old member on here that was one very highly sought of tought me this

Actually the staples in the Eldorado and gen IV Seville are just as reinforcement, the wood panel is primarily held on the plastic backing with glue.
The panels are similar construction between our cars, no matter what you do remember to pull from underneath the plastic panel not the wood top.

To the OP, your backlight is one single light bulb (rear left side) accessible once you remove the wood trim. For the seats most likely the heater element (a wire) is burnt, should be visible (on the back side) once you remove the leather skin of the seat.
