Sealed Gel Optima Battery ok with no venting? ---

Hey Guys ---

I just got a nice sound system installed in my 04' DTS and went to Auto Zone for a battery replacement ( I need a stronger one ). I wanted an Optima Red Top , and the guy said the battery needed to be vented ... so they dont have a part number.

Is it ok to install a Gel battery and not use a battery that needs to be vented? The gases from the battery acid is what is vented right? The Optima is sealed.

If I measure the old battery, and get an optima to fit ... I shouldnt have problems, right? Our cars use 78 series batteries right? I will make sure the posts are in the same location too. Thanks :) ---

78 series is correct. If the Optima is seal and does not outgas you should be OK if you can find one to fit. I think I have heard of it being done before.
