There are a couple of TSB's for this condition. It has to do with grounding of components in the console. The fix is quite complex and may not resolve the issue. If your Navigation works correctly, my advice is to leave it alone.

Hello,
I own a 2020 xt5 sport and i get the message sd card removed. I do see the navigation card in the lot ok, but is there another slot? Where is the other one?

If you follow the link to my earlier post from June 2024, you will find links to a couple of Service Bulletins for this issue. The fix is documented in the Bulletins. It is caused by a grounding issue in the console. The fix is quite complex and when I had the dealer do the fix it did not resolve the warning message. I suggest if your Navigation is working OK, don't bother with the fix because if the dealer agrees to attempt the repair, they must take out the driver seat and console to fix the grounding. If your Navigation stops working, it may be worthwhile to fix it while under warranty. Your 2020 is likely beyond the Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty.

BTW...that SD slot at the rear of your console is the only one in your XT5. XT6's had another SD slot which I believe was in the cargo compartment for recording the surround vision.

 

The SD Card Slot in my 2022 XT5 is essentially dedicated to the Navigation System. You "can" pop the Map SD Card out and plug in say an SD Card with Music on it, but it disables the Stock Navigation.

I went with a uni SD Card Reader, High-Speed USB 3.0 to Micro SD Card Adapter and plugged it into the USB slot in the console so I could listen to music on an SD Card "AND" keep stock Navigation Map running
