I need to get a VIN from a car that has the yellow calipers on it. The dealer is trying to replace the calipers on my car, but they can't find a part # for the yellow calipers. They said if I could find a VIN for a car that came with them, it would help - please PM me.

If on the odd chance anyone has the part #s for the yellow calipers, that would be even better.

Thanks!

No, (unfortunately??) they didn't. It got really close because of the parts, but they essentially showed up at 11:58 (damnit). Repair is nearing 20K. It's significantly more work than I expected. I'll post some pictures once it's all done. This isn't some inflated # because it's a dealer either. Once you see the pictures, you'll understand. Thankfully, it's completely cosmetic and nothing that effects drivability was impacted. I have pretty decent faith in the shop at this point to return the car as close as possible to where it was before.

Both the shop and Cadillac have been fantastic throughout this ordeal. I'm still a ways from being through all of the insurance issues though. That is all still TBD.

IF I find them, I certainly will. I'm still looking for them myself.

i looked quickly in the parts catalog today for the calipers and didn't see anything right away, but a VIN for a car that has them would help (as you mentioned above) ... worst case scenario i could call GM and have them figure it

the wheels are in the catalog (i think) ... from memory i think there are three different widths for these wheels... 9", 9.5" and 10" ... the coupe gets the wider wheels (front coupe is same as rear sedan)

again... that's from memory and a VIN would really help out

Just got off the phone w/ GM and the part numbers are in the catalog but they're not listed correctly (they're listed w/o any option code when they should have the option code J6E)

Front LH #20982719
Front RH #20982734

Rear LH #20982644
Rear RH #20982647

They are a bit pricey (fronts list at $625.30 & rears list at $420.60) but if anyone is interested I can offer the fronts for about $390 & the rears for about $264 (prices are for each caliper, of course, and are subject to change as time goes on and GM shifts their pricing around)

i just found out that these calipers are on backorder currently - apparently the stock that is available is on reserve for cars being built at the factory

eventually the calipers will come off backorder but there is no timeframe set for when that will be

Because of your help, I now have a set of these on the way for my wagon for FREE from GM.

Part delays have been keeping my car from being repaired. The issue got excalated within GM and I got a call from the 'Executive center'. They appologized for the issues and asked if I wanted anything for the car. The calipers were the first thing that jumped into my head. I'd been looking at powder coating or painting the existing ones, but that wouldn't have had that factory look (no logo). The dealer couldn't find the part and wanted to get a normal set and powder coat them, which defeated the whole point of getting anohter set. Because of Chris' help, I'll be getting the correct part #s. I'm not sure how long it's going to take, I'm not really worried about that. I just wanted the factory look.

Can the calipers be used on a regular, non-V car? I should have a extra set of brand new (130 miles) calipers for sale soon. I may *gulp* be getting my car back next week.

Thanks again RippyPartsDept and elphil. I wouldn't be getting the right parts without your help.

yeah the executive center called me the other day and was asking about how I came up with those part numbers for you ...
i think they just wanted to make sure they weren't going to be ordering some wrong parts and have something down 'on paper'

and you're welcome - let me know if there's anything else I can help with

Kevin,

yeah some forum software bug (or something else maybe) is affecting my account and it has bumped me back to non-subscriber status and my inbox is now 150 messages over full ...

it should get corrected on monday (i have been told)

currently the calipers are on backorder/restriction and only available to new cars being built at the factory
we can place orders now but there is no ETA - but eventually there will be stock available to order
this is normal for a special option part like this

my email is in my signature (if it would show up - which it will if my account gets fixed)
i'll try and remember to get in touch with you on monday if you don't respond here

~Chris
