My 98 SLS with 60K on it sqeeks like a door with rusty hinges when I go over speed bumps, into driveways, street intersections etc. The ride is perfect with no rebound. No other related noises. Car is in mint condition and has never been abused. I jounced the front end and can get it to make the noise but without the weight and momentum of the car it's a lot less pronounced. I'm inclined to blame the sway bar bushings as I have read related threads but they all seem to produce metalic rattles which I do not have. Any ideas from the "brain trust'?

Thanks Ranger, I can't imagine these cost a whole lot. Do the have to come from the dealer or is my local A/Z ok to get these? Also is there any trick to putting them on?

I had a similar problem on a 84 Eldo. In my case lower ball joints were freshly replaced but the garage forgot to grease them. Duh! The squeak (like old spring mattres) developed after about 2 weeks. Greasing them fixed my problem.

No they do not have grease fittings. If you haven't already, pull the front wheels off to get to the stabilizer bar brackets. Put wheel bearing grease on them. You could replace them if you want (it would be most correct to do so). No repeat complaint though with grease. It's easiest if you pull both brackets so the bar can move.
