Does anyone have any experience with the RSM Racing intake system for the 3.2L? It costs $560:

Engineered from high quality mendrel bent tubing
for greatly improved air flow. Coated for durability,
includes silicone adapters and K&N cone filter.
11 HP gain at the rear wheels

In my dyno runs, the K&N filter alone added ~9 RWHP, as I recall. The intake tube looks very nice but I'm not sure it's worth the extra 2 RWHP for $500+. If it was closer to $100 for just the tube, I'd think about it.

They carry a lot of superchargers on their site, and they once had one for the CTS, but it has been discontinued. They still have a magazine article (2 pages) that describes two CTS's they built when they first came out. One had the Vortec supercharger.
Thank you for posting this...I have been wanting more info on this bad boy...I did some reading on other threads and the only thing I found was that this set up may only be good for top end power...and may not help on the low end...meaning I guess it won't help with take off.

I have emailed RSM and they stated that their intake will give 11HP gain at the wheels and that their exhaust will give 18HP at the wheels.

They also RSM also sells engine mounts that are beleived to help with torque...

anyone have anything?
Buy from them and bend over. No lube either.

I agree! RSM makes some excellent parts but the prices are insane. If you bought one of the tower braces you gotta feel raped after Cadillac released theirs.
i feel the same way about RSM. they look like they have pretty cool pruducts but they are way over priced. as Ody stated, the only difference between their intake and a stock aircharger k&n (which i have listed for sale on these classifieds btw) is a mandrel bent tube. the k&n kit gives you a nice plastic tube, but volant gives nothing. i can't IMAGINE paying the extra couple hundred for a metal pipe. you might as well go to the exhaust place and have them mandrel bend you a pipe for 350 less, then go buy the cone.

i thought about those motor mounts but gimme a break, way too much $$
RMS seems to have a hold on the market when it comes to models with little to no aftermarket support .... I'm impressed by how much they sell for the 3.4 Firebird/Camaro....

But that doesn't justify the prices.
I was eyeing the tower braces as well, does anyone else make them?

How about GM? they released it recenty. I've had one on order over 3 weeks. Here's my order and the part number. A hell of lot cheaper than RSM don't you think?

Is that for both front and rear tower braces?

No. You don't need the rear brace. If you think you do..be prepared to cut holes into your trunk. Not me!!
I just figured I'd get the front and rear braces to match the sway bars, and I don't really mind cutting through the carpet.

Are the GM braces comparable to RSM's?

Whats the website where I can order GM's parts?

So I take it that its a bad idea to cut through the trunk?

My suggestion would be to add the Factory tower brace from GMPD. Then add either the CTS-V front and rear sway bars or aftermarket sway bars like Eibach. www.shox.com has the Eibachs.
robert.

for the rears you have to cut holes in the interior carpet of the trunk for the brace to pass through, not hole trunk material itself.
thebrace should bolt onto the shock towers.

no water getting in that way.
oh man, i was looking more closely at thier rear strut bar. useless.

it bars right across the main opening and the structural rigidity of the back seems more than enough already

robert, does the new strut tower bar for the front from gm fit over the existing engine cover?

Kael,
They have changed their design for the better. The bar has to bolt directly to the rear tower. Wouldn't you need access to drill the mounting holes or are there existing predilled holes to use? I see it will interfere with those who have fold down rear seats like mine. I wonder if its worth the trouble?:hmm:

I should know soon when it arrives. It sets farther aft than the LS6 bar. There is an indention in the hood matting for clearance. I'm not sure what I will do about that. Pass the xacto knife please. The engine covers look identical. I Think someone posted they carry the same part number. CMS is plating my engine cover now. Wouldn't that be a B!tch is it didn't clear the brace!
oh that, yeah robert, you would probably need to drill holes to mount the brackets but if rsm has brain one in their heads the bolts will come with washers to prevent any water seepage. honeslty, i would worry more about water leaking in from the trunk hatch itself then a few bolt holes stuffed full of bolt :)

my car has the full passthrough too, i love the double seat fold down.

honestly when i was looking for a cts, the differences between the cts with all the luxury options and the base cts makes it almost a different car.
I got a beauty, full luxury, ebony interior, black exterior, full pass through, hid headlights, navi screen, moon roof. bose, xm, the works. i love this car.
